Idling too fast

just a question for what people might think this is.
Whenever I've been driving hard on the highway, after a while, the car idles twice as quick as it does normally. It idles fast for about 15 to 30 seconds & then cuts back to normal idle.
Air-conditioning & CD player are off.
the water flow through the idle control unit is not blocked at all, though perhaps the unit itself is faulty??
Though if I drive sedately around town, this doesn't occur.

Not knowing anything about this motor i would have to say is a little bit rich in the fuel mixture, especially after a hard run, faster idle for a period of time could be a way of removing excess fuel mixtures?
Just a thought, as my 4age is like that, give it some curry and the idle stays a 1200-1300 for about 5mins before returning to normal.
Hope it helps bro.
Cheers
Steve
