Whos been skydiving??

I went skydiving today from 14000ft and I have to say that it was not at all what I expected. I felt no sensation of falling, just lots of air rushing past. Kind of boring really! Although for the first few seconds your unable to breath which is a weird feeling
Anyway, I'll have to go it again sometime to see if I feel anything different
Oh and it hurt like all fuck when the shoot opened and it tried to squish my manhood up inside me
So who else here has been skydiving?

i've done AFF stage 1 and 2...
i felt similar to you about the first jump, so i thought i should try again. my situational awareness was far better for the second jump, to the point where i could recall everything... much more satisfying than the first.
in stage 2, rather than just having a look around, you also get to do the delta position thing, in order to track... this was fuggin sick. i put my arms back, and went nose-down a tiny bit, then when i remembered to straighten out my legs i just took off. really interesting sensation.
i think it can only get better as you progress, and learn new skills. the first couple of jumps is just to make sure you're not going to let go of everything in your head when you let go of the plane. when they know you've got your shit together, things will start to get more interesting. i'll definitely go back "a few more times".
get another hit, i say... if you still feel "meh", then i guess it isn't for you?

I always thought jumping out of a plane would be pretty easy coz your so high up you wouldnt really notice the height...if that makes sense...but then i saw some people from the the ground jump...and i went...fuck that.

The only thing you see when people jump at the height we were at is a small plane and what looks to be a wheel parting the plane.

i went abseilin and was on a rope looking 35 metres down ... through a waterfall .. hardly as scary as skydiving, but then again, you dont go tandem abseiling (i.e. u are on your own, no one to help u if u fuck up)
i guess u have a bit of a shock, but then, when you are over the edge u are concentrating so hard, u dont really realise that you are meant to be scared ...

Yeah, I've done 9 jumps. The first one (tandem) was definitely the least inspiring.
2 to 8 were by myself (instructor jumped out alongside) and much more fun - spinning around, tracking across and stuff.
9th jump was badly hungover and/or still half pissed. Scared the $#!7 outta myself (lots of tumbling, couldn't get level to open the 'chute) and I haven't been back since!
Although I always thought that I could go back to it without any hassles if I felt so inspired, but I haven't had the urge (yet...)
If you are looking to scare yourself stupid with extreme height, falling sensations, etc, then you are right - you don't really get much of that. But I still found it a rush, as I guess do the blokes with thousands of jumps behind them who still reckon they get an adrenaline hit every time they jump.
Each to their own, I suppose. Maybe bungee would be more your thing?

I think bungee would probably be the most boring of extreme sports?

Agreed, although I've never tried it. But it would probably give you that 'falling' feeling.
Perhaps cool1 just needs some drugs that make his adrenaline receptors more responsive

What is your belay doing? If you are on your own when abseiling you are a fool.
Unless you self belay, in which case chance of falling is still negligible! Belay cords are your friend. If you set up a decent self belay it should be near impossible to fall (and if you do it is only your fault!!), hence i don't see abseiling as extreme.

Yeh i would do it everyday if i could. Too expensive though. Although it canes ur ears its still worth it. Wish free fall lasted longer though
