Honda engines are very impressive. My mates have had a few civics and the such and they are quick for what they are.
I think its time to "GTE" you ride. Then there wont be anymore neck on neck, you'll be about a kay and a half away!

I don't see why you are having problems

mate you must have a supercar.
im not saying i cant beat it, i probably could if we reached higher speeds.
i.e over 90 -100
but for a vtec to keep up 1st possibly 2nd, means its not too bad of an engine.
just a few mods for the vtec make it a really good competitor.
diz you say you so called "killed" these cars but what speeds did you go to before you killed them and how close was it.
theres one thing to beat one but by how much.

I had them off the mark , and they never so much as approached my side view. If i remember right they were both about a half a second to a second behind.
As for that pac green machine , that is another story.

i love vtec, the real ones that is VTIRs and typeRs. they sound awesome. will put up a good fight against ZEs. my friend with stock B16a in a 88 crx, rolling 2nd gear = game over for me.
recently EG civic with type R engine = 12.8s, very impressive.

I have a stock Civic VTIR hatch and I have beaten a couple of AE82's with 4AGZE's Not be a big margin but one that was nonetheless decisive.

indeed.
Never underestimate Honda engines.
I was speaking to the driver of that EG civic 'EGK-20A' yesterday and he said both him and the owner were quite impressed with the performance of the car so far.
To my amazement, it is running the stock gearbox, and the motor is not too modified either (mind you it's a Jap spec DC5R engine) - still pulling off 12.886 @ 106MPH
They have some mods coming for the next WSID event, hoping to crack 12 secs
Twas funny, he said when the lil civic was pullin up at the line, the 180sx driver did not even take notice as to what he was facing, only to look at the clock after the drag to the response of 'WTF'
But it all depends on what honda you are up against - it sounds as if the EG you were runnin has had a B16A transplant, don't be suprised if you were beaten, cuz i've heard many stories about this unsespecting combination - including a mate of mine saying it was the fastest thing he has ever been in.
But on the contrary, if it was an EG Vti with the standard SOHC Vtec, then it's hard to comprehend how it stood a chance against the mighty 4AGZE.I own a pretty much stock AFM GZE, and it is just no match for my gf's Vti.

i've raced a few vtec honda's. my celica @ 6psi was neck to neck from launch at the lights with a new type r integra.2nd gear he creeped infront, but 3rd gear i got in front of him by a nose,i would call it a draw.
i've owned two civic vtec's thou

but think of the age of thew motors too!
the honda might ave more mods than just a cold air intake. n plus the 4agze would just need a pully change n it should get to pull away a lill faster.

dayam you need a front mount!
Your top mount is just basically an inter-heater. Plus they aren't overly large...
