Camry Touring Suspension

Hey guys,
I'm considering up of upgrading the suspension in the Camry (widebody sedan) but because it is the Touring variant, i have been advised against doing so as the suspension is already well sorted.
My intentions we're to drop it a few inches and i was to be upgrading the wheels to 17'. I haven't checked around to see what i could go for yet or who would be offering packages but obviously i don't want to take away on the ride quality. After coming from the EXA, I'm loving not having to scrape over every bump and hump on the road!
What would you guys advise?
-Stay with the current setup
-Lower springs and shocks
-Wait out to develop a package to suit
I'm also not hoping to spend a lot of money. I'm looking at spending up to $1500 max but we'll see how we go of course. What do you guys also think of new vs. second hand?
Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long post!
Cheers,
Mark

Having owned a wide body Vienta, the best handling upgrade you can do is to install some new swaybars. I got a 25mm solid front bar and a 22mm solid rear bar. Handling was transformed dramatically and I highly recommend it.

A sensible drop in height would be 1.5", looks a little meaner, handles a little better, but doesn't scrape on everything.

I've got a Touring Vienta.
This is just a re-badged Camry. The stock suspension is shit. I know because i've had mine at several race tracks... and i drive the bitch hard around town.
If you want it to handle, you have to sacrifice comfort. Get some FUCKING stiff springs front (8kg/mm) and rear (7kg/mm), some THICK swaybars (the rear is very important), and you'll be happy with it's handling. Don't skimp on the shocks either! I've also heard of some coil-overs for these cars too.
If you don't want a harsh ride, just by some Super LOW King Springs and look cool...

Yeah i was considering the sway bars. As for ride height and quality, i do want to reduce the ride height for aesthetic purposes, but i don't want to sacrafice ride quality. I would like it to be a little bit tighter but i dont want to damage my kidneys (and my car) by having stiff springs.
So where have you guys had your work done? Anyone in Sydney that you would recommend?
Cheers,
Mark
