Megasquirt 2 :)

hey all,
should be installing MS2 for ignition control later this week.
system is.
brand new toyota 4K elec dizzy, locked by removing weights.
AE82 bosch VR igniter, with a 470ohm pull-up resistor from 12V on the output, going to the MS/MS2 tach input (no Dave Cap, no John Zener).
output of MS2 goes to Jaycar HEI set up with "Hall Effect sensor" input, BUT with the 820ohm pull-up resistor removed.
the MS2 output is "Going High (inverted)" since the HEI triggers on the rising edge.
this all results in the HEI trigger exactly on the VR's zero-crossing point when all offsets and advance are set to 0.
wiring and instal later this week
oh and need to work out the 12x12 tables.. i think i'll be grouping them around idle

woot! in fact, major wootness
progress!!
can you post the part no. for the bosch ignitor?
and is the dizzi a reluctor (like most toyo dizzis) or something else?
btw: thought about using a 2nd bosch ignitor (that does dwell) to fire the coil? or another toyo ignitor to do same?
btw 2: any idea on when the MS2 daughter board will be out?
well done!

yup, Bosch part number "9 222 067 021"
the dizzy is a brand new toyota 4KC US starlet model. it's an external igniter type, adn the part number is "19100-13090"
is definitely a reluctor type.
btw1: the HEi does current limiting instead of dwell. i had some other toyo ignitors and was looking for a VAST type, which would do both.
ideally i would get a dumb igniter, since the MS2 does both dwell and spark duration. i would also like to work out how to drive the HEI's darlington directly, as ti would effectively be a dumb igniter.
btw2. very soon. near final code has been released, and last round of hardware tests is on. they should be released within the month at latest (but i wouldn't exactly hold my breath)
how much i've spent? on what exactly. MS approx $190, MS2 will be around US$60, then it's fuel pump ($80), manifolds (around $300) and lines etc...
not very much but enough to not give it away...

for now, the MS2 will only be available as a populated board, no DIY... and after seeing the lead pitch, i would be hesitant to solder it up myself.
once the prefabbed units have been proven in the field, unpopulated boards will become available.
well, when i get it going it will only be on the car for a few weeks, so i'd like to maybe have a small meet up of the sydney people who are interested to have a look.
after that it will go down to Vic (out west tho) and Gareth will be putting it on his turbo XF, so it will be available for viewing then too

and here's the latest update

I suppose I could express interest in becoming a part of it - any more details to share? Or would it be better to PM me?

there is no price as yet, as it isn't officially released. it has been suggested it will be around US$50-60 for the fully populated board..
