pics off supraforums.
It is a standard jza80 tailshaft so you would think it is pretty strong based on the rest of the stuff in the car like engine, diff, gearbox etc.
BTW TX2K5 was just on in USA. I really would love to go and check it out sometime. Sounds awesome!

He must have some serious traction.
Either that or there was an imperfection/dent in the tailshaft that caused a weak spot.
Here's what 250hp (approx) can do to a nissan axle, which I'm sure had something wrong with it.

He said that many other people run the same times or quicker with “standard” tailshafts. However, he found out after he broke that one that there were some mods done to them.
Custom one piece shaft and tailshaft loop for me

Its amazing how much it twisted before finally breaking. Id say thats a great tailshaft pushed past it's limits!

AFAIK it happened on the start line so there were no supras catapulting down the drag strip
