TORSEN LSD SOARER - WTB Wed, 29 May 2002 11:52 Go to next message
I'm after a Torsen LSD centre or complete diff to suit a Soarer
It's common with xZZ3x Soarer, JZA80 Supra, UZS155 Crown, JZS147/UZS143 Aristo
If you have one to sell/trade, e-mail me.

Found one at a wrecker, but he wants $800 just for the centre with the wrong ratio. It's my last resort at this point. Still looking though.

Ah well, I'm a little lean on the green at the moment, so hopefully one will pop up around the end of the year when I'm a little more financially stable. I wouldn't but the wrong ratio one though... I'd either lose out on top end or acceleration, neither of which I'd like to change dramatically.
Thanks for the info anyway Smile

Spoke to a mechanic today about the diff. Apparently it's not too difficult to change the crown gear off my non-LSD to the LSD Centre so I'd retain the same ratio. Last resort still.

Traction..
Went over my head. What's a G series diff? Soarer diffs start with an A - as in A01B. Would a G series be Gxxx ?
It is only the center as well - no housing etc.

Manny,

... and at $800 for the centre, plus whatever mucking around is involved to finish the job off, it's hardly worth it. I agree it's a last ditch effort. I'd wait until something better comes along.
I'd like to get onto some Qld suppliers, cos they have tonnes of imports (esp. Soarers) up there, so I'm sure they'd have tonnes of parts. They are also much cheaper than NSW.

Totally agree with your QLD comment - I've called all the ones I know of up there without luck.
I actually bought my 4 Spot Supra brakes in QLD - half the price of what Sydney wreckers wanted.

Perhaps there are a few Queenslanders reading who can drop a few names & numbers?!

TORSEN LSD SOARER at JMS Mon, 03 June 2002 15:05 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Try JMS.
I don't know cost or even if its for supra/soarer (or still there).
I saw the Torsen LSD sitting on shelf, wiped drool for corner of mouth and wished I could get one for ae86.

Check there site www.japanesemotorsport.com.au

G series is for GZ/MA Supra's and GZ/MZ Soarers. I bought a JZA70 G Series Torsen LSD centre, but now I'm not to sure if it will hold up for drift and track work.

I've read on the Supra forums and in Zoom magazine that they tend to fly apart and most people go for the clutch type LSD's.

I've got a LSD out of an import cressida. email me if anyone wants it with a sensible offer. I can check ratio. cant send pic till next week when my camera comes back. if the case is wrong, I can swap & reset the guts out of this into any Toyota diff of the same size (for a price).
Torsen type diffs are useless on outright race cars , cause once a wheel is off the ground, they wont sense the torque change. They are great for street cars and occassional sprints etc. For race use we always use plate type LSD's (Kaaz, TRD etc) where we can set the cross-torque.
