I just saw we have 250 guests  , i think Toymods should make you have membership as in have to register to view the forums, like many other sites. Opinions?.

thats pretty good, on the forzaworld forums they have a thread bragging about having 11 users online man that forum is slow nothing eva happens, here on toymods i'm lucky if my inbox for my email account isn't filled up in two days because all the posting, toymods= cure for lack of work at work lots of reading to be done.

First up the aim of this forum, other than for Toymods Car Club members to communicate, is to encourage the greater Toyota community.
If we make the forums member only even to view then the search engines will no longer be able to find any of the content on the forum. This is how the majority of people find out about the forum when they are not able to find out about the club itself. The more people that see good content on the forum the more people are encouraged to have a go with their car and the more members we end up with.
Now I can see there being benefits to some sections of the forum only being available to members but as to nobody being able to read the forum unless they join I think it's pretty counter productive.
I'd like to hear why you think it's a good idea though, you may have some points we haven't thought about.

I guarentee you half of those people are members who just haven't logged in yet.
Either that or another forum is linking to a thread here.
Either way, its not normally like that, its just a one off random occurance.

This would be a good idea if we wanted to minimise traffic, but I don't see any other real benefit.
Josh: Search engine's come from known IP's, so with a little bit of programming smarts you can automatically log them in to allow them to index your site. You can also normally control what these search engines pick up by inserting a file called robots.txt in each directory (sorta like a client side .htaccess file)

No the are not in the outhouse, they are everywhere but the outhouse specially tech and conversion.
