Hi mate-from what you describe, I'm relatively confident the problem is the pressurised sump. Although 5psi may only seem a small amount of pressure, it is more than enough to cause the turbo to leak oil past the rear seal (there should be virtually no measurable pressure in there if it's all set up correctly). The oil drains back into the sump and if there is 5psi in the sump, there's a good chance the oil will shove it's way past the seal and go into the housing instead.
Try removing the PCV valve all together, and run an open hose from the PCV hole on the rocker cover to your catch can, and then a line from the can to the airbox or the front of the turbo. (or you can just leave the catch can open to air-but it'll be a bit smelly)
Run the car again, and you should see virtually no measurable pressure in the sump-AND (I hope) no more oil smoke.
Even with brilliant compression, all engines will leak some gases past the rings into the sump, and on a turbo car, any residual pressure in there will generally upset the oil drain back and blow a bit of smoke.
Cheers
Sean

i think you need other "guys" if these can't see what they've done to it & wonder why the intake boost & sump have the same pressure!!
i don't know anything about turbos, but i've got a feeling that the life of yours has been shortened because of its oil return/drain being pressurized.

Mitch,
The 3TGTE rockermcover has a steel pipe outlet in the front of the cover, normally connected to the inlet ducting - make sure that is either returned to the inlet ducting or preferably and oil catch can - when you use high revs for a pronlonged period of time, the excess oil in the head can come out, and will need to be caught somewhere. This outlet is also a quick and easy test to confirm the sump pressure problems 0 leave it off, and go for a run which would normally cause turbo smoke problems - I reckon the "Venting to atmosphere" will solve your problems.

There is a small crank case vent box located at approx cyl #4 under the intake manifold (it uses a large line off the back of the plenum). The vacuum signal line MUST have a check valve installed and it must be correctly oriented - no check valve = boost pressure straight into the sump.
Another problem could be damaged rings or pistons.

pressure in the crankcase is usully an indicator for:
-failure in PCV system
-blowby
except during high-rpm the crankcase pressure should oscilate between a slight amount vacuum and a slight amount of pressure.
non-expert opinion: if you've pushed oil out thru the seals in the turbo, you usually stuffed them or shortened their working life.
a guess as to why you have this problem? they've plumbed up the engine with PCV system to suit a NA car (vacuum only in intake manifold).
