Nitro-powered RC car for sale <SOLD> Fri, 18 March 2005 03:20 Go to next message
<NOW SOLD!>
<NOW SOLD!>
<NOW SOLD!>

Well it's got to the stage where I don't use the little monster often enough, and since I'm just about to move house (eargh), I'm trying to sell/throw out what I can to save me having to move it.

It's an Ultima RB buggy - a couple of years old now. Now it's only rear wheel drive, which means you'll have trouble beating the 4wd's around a track. On the plus side it makes an awesome car to thrash around, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. It makes a perfect first nitro RC car, because everything is big and simple, and you can change every suspension setting imaginable, so it's a great way to learn what works best. Parts are also cheap compared to most nitro rc cars (new gearbox/diff just cost me $24 Smile

It's got heaps of spares, plus the transmitter. Pod filter, spare glow plugs, 3 different exhaust systems, and about 90% of the parts are new (overhauled a few months ago). There's also a few sets of wheels/tyres & stacks of spare suspenion parts. You can jack it right up and go jump crazy with it, or dump to about 3mm ground clearance and it'll sure as hell hold its own on a tarmac track.

I have some awesome footage sitting around of it at the local skate park. Anyway, it makes a great little trick/jump car because it goes as fast as hell, and parts are mega cheap.

Top speed of around 65 kmph, however when properly tuned I clocked it at 71 kmph by sitting in the passenger seat of a mates car and leaning out the window steering it Smile

Spent about $650 on it, not including parts & mods. Open to all offers over $150 for the lot. As I said - I just wanna clear it out. Pics to follow.

Yup, you can put whatever shell you want on it. Might require some chopping to fit the air filter and exhaust though, but you'll find that's the same with most nitro RC cars.

Can you put PVC pipe over the rear wheels so that you can drift it??

You REALLY don't need to. This thing has had a fair bit of internal work done on the engine. It'll smoke up the rear wheels using any tire compound without breaking a sweat. It can break traction at 50km/hr. Very Happy

RWD hey?

Wack on the softest compound out and that thing would drift I reckon...

If I make mine RWD, can't keep traction unless I'm barely touching the throttle...
Even with light throttle it twitches around...

Good luck with the sale

It drifts pretty well actually. I get some good practice down in the big underground carpark I have here Smile

I messed with the weight distribution and ballast so it doesn't tend to to just spin - oversteer is a lot more progressive.

With mine (which is for sale), turn it RWD, and put on the SOFTEST compound... And it will still drift is what I'm saying...
These things have plenty of torque... Drifting in them does not need to be done using PVC pipe...

ahhhhh i gotcha... it'll do it even with the softest compound... rightyo...

i used to have a tamiya stadium blitzer... had a stock racing moter, tekin rebel esc, and some better batteries... but one day i decided to get adventerous... i made up a plug so i could run 2 batteries in series Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

bolted on the stock 540 motor... and holy crap did she move!!! for an old 'blitzer that was awesome! make the esc pretty friggin hot though... i took it to the local track one weekend where they were racing, and one of the officials just made sure i wasn't planning on racing it like that... lol... i took it for a bit of a blast before the race, the officials wanted to know why it moved so damn fast...

i drove it up my drive towards me... did a bit of a flick spin to stop, and there was smoke coming from the back... thought it was the tyres at first... then i realised i was cooking the motor... shoulda seen the armature slop after a few runs like that! damn she was a beast Laughing Laughing

Good price for a offroad petrol rc.

Dunno about fitting ANY shell to it. Isn't this a 1/8 buggy? As in most rc cars. The setup is important. I could never drift my petrol rc (aka removing belts and drive shafts) I don't think soft or hard compound tyres make any diference. I'm talking 4wd tourers here. So if anyone wants to argue the fact since u got one of those little electric drift cars its a whole different case.

I can see what u mean trying to keep the thing from spinning out. From the looks of your rear wheels u got a whole sh*tload of toe in.

GL with the sale.

My petrol RC is driftable so easily because it is set up loose... It is setup to be thrown from side to side and driven on a knifes edge... It isn't setup so that if you give it everything it has it stays in line... Mine is setup, quick, and fast... Very stable through corners whilst you know how to drive it... In AWD mode, I can still hang the tail by giving it too much gas...

Sorry about the delays all - I only just got my net access back. Moving house sucks!

Update: Best offers are currently $130 for pickup or $150 delivery. I'll be going with the $150 delivery unless anyone else makes another offer within a week or so. I'm in no rush to sell it, I think I've just outgrown it. I took out it for a spin yesterday and everything in it was fine.

Too slow Witz! You should have jumped on it when it was first posted weeks ago! I'm sure more RC cars will come up for sale here anyway.

Glad you're having fun with it GBC - try not to stack it!
