2TG Bearings in a 3TGTE?

I've just bought a 3TGTE, desperately requires a recondition, just wondering what bearings i could use. I've heard rumours 3T rings fit, and 2TG main/end bearings do sort of fit but i have to make sure their oil groves are the same(?).
Also what parts usually need changing for an old 3TG- main end bearings, rings, gaskets, timing chain parts, any parts in the head need replacing?
cheers

3T-C (T18) big end and main bearings can be used, but the big end bearings need the oil hole re-drilled as its about 7mm off from the one that is already there.
Its a good idea to change timing chains, they tend to stretch after many k's, and get noisey.
The short chain is 62 link same as 18R toyota, long chain is 102 link same as 4G52/4 datsun.
A head service wouldnt hurt either, I'm sure the valve guides & seals would be the same as some other toyota twin cam of that era. any head shop can resurface the valves & seats for a better seal too.
Cheers
Phil

it may well be the same as a 2TG, but its far easier to find a listing for local holdens & datsuns than an imported 2TG
