supercharged 3k? Sat, 19 March 2005 03:49 Go to next message
a mate of mine says it is possible to supercharge a 3k just for something different. Is it possible and if so where do you get the parts?

its possible.

depends which parts you want.

supercharger - look for almost any jap importer/wrecker

the rest is too specific for me to be bothered with.

you can supercharge just about any 4 stroke motor.

you get an SC12 or SC14 and you make the parts. simple as that.

SC12 is ghey wit teh aids from what ive heard, sc14 can pump out 15psi with enough driving power!

id just slot in a 4AGZE but then again, each to their own!

how do you figure that? SC12 with 15psi on a 1.6L might be a problem, but on an 1100 or 1300 motor? isn't it a combination of temp from compression AND temp from high lbe speed that causes the lobes' coating to fail?

One thing to say, you know too much, good work. What would a turbo go like on a 3k? lol!
Thanks

my only reservation with forced induction on a K series motor is the pistons. the original repco/toyota ones are fragile at best, but i have yet to see how the ACL ones stand up to pressure.

i would prefer ones with shorter skirts..

i have been pondering over this recently as il have a spare sc12 setup lying around after i turbo the gze..

i figure get a 3k block put a 4k head on to lower compression, enclose the carby in a box as to keep equal pressure outside the carby not just plumb it straight in,resulting in a blown up carby..

yeh thats my basic idea..but im a newbie to the k series engines so let me know if im wrong.

is the theory correct or am i kidding myself..

btw this is in a ke70.. Razz

If you wanted to stay carby, you would have to be better off going suck through rather than blow through.

ok,

how would you set this up??

needs to b an easy otherwise i wont bother doing it..

to do the blow through, i was just going to make a box that bolts onto the where the carby sits put the carby inside this box and plumb the sc in before this, probably with a small intercooler as well..

have u got any pics of a suck through system??

if your getting an upgraded ecu then it would be stupid to not upgrade the igniton, the original points setup is barely strong enough ignite the original mixture let alone with boost to blow it out. Also you didnt consider the cost of all the accessories and the tuning.
