It's a straight edge thing.. but lots of little emo phags have decided to start doing it. Originally was a sign not to serve minors drinks at all age hardcore gigs.

Straight edge = basically a scene within hardcore punk... no drugs, no alcohol, no meat, and for some no premarital sex. It's all about keeping a clear mind and avoiding "impurities" for the body.
Emo = "emotional" punk, teenagers complaining about a girl who doesn't like them or the kid who beat them up at school, or how it's so hard being an individual like everyone else. (think bands like simple plan, etc)

Straight Edge - Whatever. If snot-nosed little brats think they're super-hardcore because of an overblown sense of morality that's fine. whatever. 
Emo - That'd be fine too . . . if it didn't INFECT regular radio ! ! I prefer to call it whinge-rock, or if it's a bit heavier, "WhingeCore"  I DON'T CARE IF SOME DUDE FEELS UNLOVED BY HIS DAD, OR ISN'T THE MOST POPULAR KID AT SKOOL!
