Help with video file? Wed, 23 March 2005 02:49 Go to next message
Does anyone here have much experience with DivX or some other form of video compression?

I'm hosting a 200+Mb MPG file for the Dirty Ibis Drifters Wink(created in VCD or SVCD format) and I was hoping to reduce it in size a fair bit to make it a little more download friendly for people..

Would someone with experience in doing this sort of thing be willing to download the file and convert it for me? I can provide details of where it can be uploaded afterwards once done..

Also, what sort of reduction in file size would you expect in this sort of conversion?

Converting those MPEG files to MPEG4 would yield smaller filesizes. Not sure exactly how much the difference would be though.

I don't know if I have any software that can convert. I can look at home tonight for ya.

Try checking out the DivX and Ogg sites. I know there's an Ogg Drop program that does conversions to Ogg format, not sure if it does videos but I've used it for sound files.
