What diff is this (AE86)

I have recently bought a sprinter with a non standard diff with rear disc brakes, and have no clue as to what it is.
The only info i've been given is that it is out of a Supra, but this may not be true. If it is out of a Supra, that would make it either a F or T correct?
Things to note are that it has Borg Warner cast into the bottom of the housing, and it has 8 bolts facing to the rear of the car. All the diff pics ive dug up on toymods have the bolts on the other side facing the front. What does this mean?
The plate on the back of the diff has this info -
P/N T807 42-103
Ratio 3.89
Ser No 2637
Does this mean anything to anyone?

more than likely its a r31 skyline diff cut down.
same stud pattern, borg-warner, and that ratio is/was available

It's not a Toyota diff, so yeah probably R31.

AFAIK supras are all IRS so that would rule them out, take a pic of the brakes that should help, ill be able to tell you if they are R31 brakes.
commodore diff is another possibility? they run disc borgwarners dont they?

Yeah, you guys might be on to something there about the R31. Any AE86 peeps out there have an R31 diff conversion and can comment?
Also, forgot to mention that it has apparently an open center (havn't actually driven on it yet), and the track is noticeably wider than stock.
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

If that were a T or F series diff there would be 10 or 12 bolts visible in the second photo which attach the carrier to the axle housing. Like I said, it's not a Toyota diff.
JesseT18: Mk1 Supra's came with a live axle, some of which were F series with disc brakes. It's a popular conversion in the US, but less so here where Mk1's are extremely rare.

Unfortunately I won't have a camera back for a couple of days, I'll get brake pics up then.
If I was to pull the back off the diff, would I be able to count the number of splines from inside the housing (with an open center), ie. Can you easily see the axle ends from inside the diff, or will I have to pull the axles out?

Yeah, its an R31 diff, bog warmer, rear loader. Flat section on the bottom of the diff. All points to an R31

Alright, I got the wheel off and checked out the brake setup, looks fairly similar to your pic.
The only differences are the caliper is on the back of the disc instead of the top and the caliper doesn't have those fins running down them. But everything else looks pretty much the same shape and style.
Looks like R31 is the answer, thanks all.

what I am curious about is your pan-hard rod top mount. There is no way that that is an OEM mount, I am not saying it because it's red but because the toyota one has a lightening hole on the ouside face. Do you know what the story is with it?

Don't know Sam, it all looks pretty factory from underneath. It's the same colour red as the body colour.
Whats a stock one look like, which side is the 'outside face' anyway?
All this work has been done by the previous owners previous owner.

Yep, same diff as R31, pintara, VL commo, corona and many others. See, I've learned something!
While I'm at it, can someone answer one of my previous questions; If I take the back cover off the diff, with an open center, could I be able to see and count the number of splines on the axles, or do the axles have to come out?

i think there are 23 spline axles if its a pintara or corona and 28 if its a commodore or skyline.
can you tell if the diff casing has been shortened?
