This is a problem my mums SV21 Camry is having but most 90's toyotas would have the same wiring I assume.

The Wipers have stopped working, sort of.
Checked the fuses when they first stopped, no problem.
Looked for the relay to check that, don't know where it is (anyone?)
Pulled the plug to the wiper motor, got out the trusty dick smith multi meter and foound that a couple of wires had power so I thought all was good.
Off to the wrecker to get another wiper motor, swap that in....still no go.
Check the wires again, wipers switched on, blue yellow has power 13.9V and blue white has power, also 13.9V but as i am looking at the readout out the voltage is dropping.....hmmm, strange.
Switch wipers to intermittant to look for an on off voltage signal from one of the wires. Couldn't find one.
Switch wipers back to normal "on". Blue yellow now has no signal Sad. Check blue white again and voltage is now down to 10 point something V and still dropping.

everynow and then the wipers will do a half sweep if you forget they dont work and try them.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am flying back to Brisbane monday morning so would really like to get this sorted before i head back otherwise she'll have to go and get ripped off by an auto elec.

Thanks in advance.
Julian.

umm, u might have to find the relay cos that is probably the problem, u might have to get a wiring schematic, to trace the wiring back to the relay and then check it, i had a similar problem with my liteace '83 and i had to change a couple of wiring looms and the relay after the contacts were sticking inside the relay and only worked every once in a while, otherwise thats all the advice i can give as im not too familiar with these cars

thanks, that sort of confirms my suspicions that it was probably the relay.
Just need to find out where it is and try to tell mum how to check it Rolling Eyes
