AE92 changing engine!! Which one?? Thu, 30 May 2002 03:46 Go to next message
My opinion is drop in a 4A-GZE or a 4A-GE 100Kw engine...

Can anybody tell me the pluses and minuses of each one and also will i need an engineering certificate..

Where can i get an engineering certificate? I live in Sydney, Liverpool - How much will it cost?

Thanks very much for any replies!

Go the GZE for otu of the box performance, will need eng.cert. the 100Kw won't but still won't match the fun of a GZE or 20 Valve 4AGE.

The 100Kw came out in that car (thou the SX/Gti had rear discs) so eng. cert. wouldn't be necessary. But check with an Engineer as the rules are about to change. The 20V could also be allowed as your capacity isn't changing, again check with an engineer. The ZE Capacity is work out by actual engine size muiltiplied by a forced induction factor (1.7). So in real terms the 4AGZE is classified as a 2.7l motor not a 1.6l.

i went to Mullen Engineering in cardiff!
I live near penrith and basically... it was cheaper for me to take the day trip and back .. pay for the cert and petrol and i was still $50 - $100 cheaper than anywhere here...
one guy started the quote at $450
andother started at $330 + $50 per mod... exhaust.... brake upgrade.. the list can go on depending on the car...

ps cardiff is near Newcastle!
