it wont measure voltage drop it doesent have that feature...what it will measure (if its map) is the manifold pressure drop when the aircon etc kicks in and the load on the engine changes, there should be a vacume line to the A/C idle control valve from the T/B, in a fwd theyre usually mounted in the passenger corner by the bonnet mount. Im not positive if AFM measures the same way but I cant see why not.
The problem you have is more likely due to poor sensors or blocked vacume lines, it happens on the T/B quite a bit where the 2 ports on top of the T/B get gummed up...just pull it off and clean it with some carby cleaner to see if that fixes it then work from there.

Yeah its MAP, has no a/c at the moment.
I have changed the oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold..is there any others???
Yeah at tafe we gave it a quick clean with carby cleaner but didnt take it off so i'll take it off and clean it good.
Should i replace the gaskets??
One other question are the AFM ECU's the same as the MAP ECU's??
Will a ECU from a AFM 4age run my MAP 4age??
Anyone know what came out in the OZ 1986 4age corolla's..AFM or MAP???

no an AFM ECU will NOT run a MAP 4AGE........pinouts are different for one.
um, the AUS spec ae82 1986 4AGE Corolla's were MAP dude.

OK i cleaned the T/B the other week did sh*t all.
Its really starting to piss me off when i stalls.
My start motor is almost dead to so some times when it stalls i have to get out with a metal bar or socket ex.. and wack the starter motor..Ohhh yeah its did it at the lights  ..was kinda funny but ..  my mate was driving.
