ok the problem im haveing is that when the car is running, i cant get it into any gears, its the gearstick is locked form moveing into a gear.
when the car is off, i can slide into any gear i like without putting the clutch down.
when i pump the clutch it is loose as a goose the first time, the second time u can fell a bit of pressure, and by the third pump u can feel the pressure built up.
even when the clutch is pumped the third time and the pressure is built up, u cant select a gear whilst teh car is running.
i cant find any leaks in the hydraulics of the clutch, teh fluid isnt leaking out anywhere.
this happened all of a sudden whilst driving. so the clutch is not worn out, and the gears should be fine.
any ideas?

If the slave cyl (on the g/box) is not leaking then its most likely the master cyl (on the fire wall)
Try bleeding it but if still no good replace master cyl
good luck

get a mate to have a look at what the slave cylinder is doing when your pumping the clutch, if it is moving then it may be a broken fork thingy selector fork? nt sure whats its called but im pretty sure that it moves the thrust bearing on the input shaf of the gearbox, this might be bent, broken and hence why u cant change gears even when the clutch feels like there is pressure.
but i would still flush the fluid and try and solve the sloppy clutch pedal problem first before going any further. if you cant do this your self take it to a mechanic.
cheers

so how do u take off? u said that u cant get a gear, but u said when its going its ok u can move to any gear with no clutch, are u blipping the throttle to match revs with the gearbox?
also try and put it in 5th gear pull the handbrake up and rev it a bit and slide the clutch out so basically try and get the car going from a 5th gear start without it conking out see what happens, if you give it heaps of revs and let the clutch out slowly it should still conk out, you should not be able to let the clutch fully out and have the motor going if the car is not moving, this would indicate a worn clutch that is slipping.

It is also possible that the master cylinder seals are gone and it is passing fluid from one side of the piston to the other, this will give you no leaking fluid, but will result in a feel similar to what you have described. I had a similar prob with my AE82.

Have you had the gearbox apart from the motor ? You could even have loose bolts on the gearbox.
