Turbo shaft stiff

I've a little concern.
As it says below, I have a ball bearing GT40 turbo.
Now it sits in the car for long periods at a time without being used (weeks up to month(s)).
Yesterday when I was playing with it, I thought I'd just take the air filter off and see what was inside. Well there is a little tiny bit oil stuck around the inlet of the turbo, but I'm not sure that's anything to worry about. The worry is that when I went to spin the turbo (Put my fingers on the compressor wheel and spun) it was stuck, solid and took a bit of pressure from me (nothing devastating, but it definately didnt' spin freely) to make it spin. Once I spun it once, it would spin freely and nicely and all the bit.
Just wondering, is this anything to worry about and if anyone knows of any turbo oil additive one can put it to save turbo seals? I'm trying to do the right thing..

So you haven’t rotated the center section of the turbo (oil fitting area) lately? When I did that to mine, I had the same symptoms.

Rotated the center section? IE put the oil outlet on the top and made the whole lot upside down just for shits and giggles? I haven't done it recently, but I have done it a while ago. Are you thinking that maybe the entire ball bearing area isnt' getting oil properly?

It might be a small amount of corrosion that locks the shaft up.
This is common in marine turbo diesels as they tend to sit for a long time between use, ingest midly salty air and sometimes have salt water injected into the exhaust not far from the exhaust wheel. This is not usually checked though and most will free up upon the application of small load. This would have happened when you took the car out for a drive.
If it is a corrosion type issue as above that is locking it up I wouldnt really worry, if its not I dont know I have nothing more to add

Ah, Skip, you might be onto something. Given that I run LPG rather than Petrol, the output is very 'watery' and I often end up with large deposits of moisture along the exhaust trail. In some instances it may be as bad as a pool of water in a low spot. Guess it could be the moisture build up in the turbine side causing it couldn't it.
Makes sense to me.
Puts the mind at ease too.

I don’t think you have to move it that much as I only moved mine a little. No I don’t think you would be rotating it 180deg I am not exactly sure why mine wouldn’t spin after I did it. The engine had never been run BTW but I don’t think that makes a difference.
Why don’t you go for a drive and then do it again?

Yes, true.
But it only happens after it sits for a while.

Does LPG would leave any carbon deposits in the turbine housing. Sometimes after sitting up, I have loosened a few turbos that had build-up between the plate and turbine wheel. Worked fine after. Not sure if bb turbos constructed differently either tho
I thought playing with your turbo shaft should always make it stiff.... mine does
