Having driven both the V8 and the TT I can say without too much bias that the TT is a fair bit quicker.

It is also cheaper to modify to a certain degree.... $10 boost controller will give you a fairly big increase in HP.

My main argument for the V8 is that they sound damn sexy.... I don't care how much quicker the TT is you'll never get that sound from a 6 cyl. Chuck a set of extractors on them and a 3 inch exchaust and it really is Aural Extasy Shocked .

It really is personal preference though.... V8 generally comes with higher equipment levels and makes a great saloon style cruiser. TT is also well equiped but not quite aswell.

Big thing: V8s only come out in autos. They can be swapped to manual (I just did mine - not a soarer) or some people have done tiptronic stuff with that gearbox (all costs $$$ though).

If you want to shift, get the TT.

Remedy: Aren't the V8s twin exhaust? where u say a 3 inch exhaust u talking twin 3in or single? or 3in on the TT model?

This is a good place to start:

If you don't mind an auto, I think the clincher would have to be the exhaust sounds....oooowwwwwww *drools*

Twin 3inchers....

Couple of Guys from the Lexus Soarers club of Aus have it done on theirs.... sounds Freakin Awesome.

Went for a cruise with them and we went through the airport tunnel. 15 soarers (only 3 TT's). Should a heard it..... I'm sure some people would have creamed themselves! Embarassed

I'm about to do total fabrication of exhaust for mine, might see about twin 3 inch. was thinking more twin 2.25 or 2.5 inch. know how much they paid? know how much it should cost from engine back?

If you're going turbo, I can't see why twin 3" would be too big, its effectively two 2l turbo engines Smile

Going NA I'd be inclined to go twin 2.5"

Don't think it'll be possible to turbo, theres no room for pipes with the power steering and aircon. So 2.5 or 2.25 would be good.

Havn't got aircon pump yet, so might look at not putting it on and put a supercharger in instead. I want forced induction on this thing.

Where there is a will, there is a way, most people thought Jamie would never be able to fit a 1UZFE in a TA22 Celica...let alone a couple of CT26's too! Very Happy

I can certainly vouch for the exhaust note...quiet but noticeable under load on our Soarer (since sold Sad ) and a VERY nice note from the single 2.5" system on our Cressida Smile
Those coming to Bathurst on the week-end wil have a chance to hear it... Razz

Your running a single 2.5inch on the cressida with the V8?

Maybe I should keep my single 3inch then. might save some $$ now. Probably will go twin 2.25 inch though.

Only two guys from LSCOA had twin 3inch pipes on their cars.... and people may debate over their sanity.

they were damn loud and probably fairly impractical. Even at idle they were very noticable, given they did have an aftermarket exhaust Cam.

But when they opened up it was awesome. Sounded like some Big Block chev was comming up behind you.

Yep, single 2.5" system all the way through...

If you come up to Bathurst, you'll be able to hear it first hand! Razz

(Did I mention that the wife and I are going to Bathurst for the 24 hour race, and are wondering if any other Toymodders are going? Laughing )
