ok at the end of the year i will be looking at buying a car possibly a jap import would love a Caldina GT-t but don't think they will be available. My other option would possibly be a soarer 91 model onwards preferably with a 1jz but wouldn't mind a V8 either.
Question number one i drive a manual have never driven and auto and any manual version of the soarer are rare expensive and have high kms. So lets assume i just get an auto, is it a good box, another question is do all soarers come equiped with digital dashes and can they be wound back i assum not, this is one reason i am interested if i can be certain the kays showing on the car are true.
ATM the moment there is a 1992 1jzgte soarer gt auto with 66000km for sale for $15490. This is kinda what id be looking at spending, would this be genuine.

yes they can be wound back. my mate has a ~92 soarer showing 30,000km it was reset back to zero after a rebuild. it was a 1jz-gte but has been rebuit with a 2jz bottom end... so a 1.5jz just had a pair of new turbos on there, beaut condition, and to book he is currently selling it. located in newcastle give me a pm if you are interested and ill give you his contact.

odo isnt really reliable
just check out the car for any accident history, how clean the motor is
oil leaks etc..

Wouldn't it be nice if Caldina GT-T's were eligble for import, but I dont think it's ever going to happen

You know the annoying thing is they are all over NZ ,going for about $15,000NZ for the GT-T with maybe 60,000Km's, it's a crime!
Saw them when I was over there and fell in love

exactly a car with 50,000km can be in worse condition then one with 150,000
odds are its not but ive seen plenty of cars that were due for new engines at 50,000 of abuse.
have a good look over the car and check that there is no rust, damage etc. give the engine a good check, compression test is always a good guage of the engines condition. service logs if they are there. other thing to look for is the interior. if the thing looks like its had 150,000km of use it probaly has. where if the interior is mint good chance its had a lot less. always rings a bell when you see a car with "50,000km" on it and the interior is shagged.

thank you very much for that, i really really want one. I will be looking at getting a car in january this year and the caldina is my fav, out of all the imports they seem to have the cheapest insurance, with just cars for me at 19 driving it not 19 now but will be if i get the car they quoted 2.5K for the full value of the car. I put in a quote for the soarer for 15K and they said 3.5K and they'd only insure it for 5K.
The caldina is far less noticeble so should be alright parking it at the station. Man i want one
