hey guys,
does ne one know where i could get a 3hp horizontal motor bored n stroked? ahh somewhere eastern subs of melbourne
also what would u think of attaching a smog pump (pump that pumps air into exhaust for emitions stuff - lol) to the motor to give it more power?
i also had contact with guy in states who has made a efi system for one du u reckon its worth doing just for kicks for a home made go kart???
i know all this is a stupid idea but ha i want to do it n just want to know what people think!
cheers

dunno bout your other Q's, but by smog pump, do you mean one of those air pumps like on old holdens they use to reduce emissions? if yes, i dont think it would pump enough air for the engine to consume, meaning it would restrict it rather than give it 'boost'.

hair driers flow alot of air, but you wouldnt put one of them on a engine. it may seem like its flowing alot of air, but how much does an engine need? i may be wrong tho, but i dont think it would work.
im sure you could get your engine bored, stroked not as likely.

thanx for the name ill have to get in contact with them and see wat happpens....
but yeah just want extra gunt outa the thing coz im not the lightest of people n my rear axle weighs a tonne.....
but yeah i thbought about using a 2:1 ratio for the compressor but im not sure if it will lag the motor too much a guy in the states had it at 4:1 n the motor would just crank over then die... so ne ideas on what ratio would be good?

I wonder how one of these pumps would go on my 40cc scooter? I know that usually 2 stroke engines don't lend themself well to conventional superchargers normally

ok i was wrong, and im glad this smog pump your talking about, is it like a conventional air pump? i wonder how much hp they would cost to run.
55gas, what was the engien used with? ive thought about toying with mower/sniper motors on various things, would be good to see some pics/articles on projects people have done.

yeah u could say its a conventional air pump! just pump thats pumps air into the exhaust to lower emitions (was the thing to do for the old cars)
ill be doing some work on this smog pump idea to another motor in the next couple weeks.

The engine was an old 165 2 stroke victa and the pump came from a cresida a fan belt ran off a pulley on top of the cooling fins drawing through the original carby.

get hold of an old petrol blower vac. you know those ones made by stihl? a mate at tafe rekons he did it to a postie and got the carby to run ritch to compensate. dunno how but. lol then you dont have to worry about it draining power from the motor cause itll have its own.

ahhh ive been told that doesnt work because the blower doesnt force enough pressure (doesnt hold for long)ive heard every thing from hair dryers to geting another motor and run at same rpm n the fin from fly into a chamber in stick into the intake of the other motor.... some really stupid idea... oh also the favourite (have carb next to u and get ur deo and spray into it haahhaaha i laughed so hard when i heard that...)

you could always try a compressed air bottle.
like a dive one.
just rig it up like a nos bottle.
it will only give you a burst but hay.worth shot...

nah sounds a little too dangerous for me...
but ive started constructing a smog pumped engine with a mate... its his 4ho ohv motor its cool as... just gota make up mounts to sit carb properly etc (carb is off a 2 stroke 100cc motorbike engine - n it revs out hard) so... prob find out tomoz or the next day wat will happen.
prob by wednesday it will b goin but im hoping by tomoz.
i was aking the intake stuff n mate was making mounts n crap.. we also made a straight out pip about 40cms long its awesome sounds like a harley n it back fires really nioce.. lol responce has change so much too

i never thought of that before but im going to get the air pump off the cressida (donor car) for some fun
i work at a motorbike shop ....i wanna try put one on a motorbike now
great stuff ....keep us posted on how it goes
my boss from the mbike shop used to bomb up his ride on lawn mowers .....he run them on ave gas, ported, and soforth
good luck with the project

graviety is fine, just makes it all more enjoyable lol....
yeah i want to do it too a motorbike engine but mate n i have lawn mower engine coming out of out ears so when we need parts (Cranks - machine them n stick in another motor n bobs ur uncle) lol
yeah should b good should have it running next couple ays... i seriously reckon somebody should make gearboxes for briggs motors or "lawn mower engines" from like racing perposes.... be so much better rather than just single gear speed crap lol.
but shuld b good ill hopefully get some pics tomoz
i think about this more and more and relise how stupid i sound lol still good

JUNK YARD WARS EAT YA HEART OUT....

hahaha...nice
i went an got me a MX62 smog pump today. i put it in the lathe @ 1250 rpm and there was a decent amount of air coming out, plenty of pressure anyway....until it flung out
at the ratio you got, there would be heaps of air
nice work

man theres a fair amount.... but think smog is bit dodgy... makes clunking sounds (does urs?)
i prob had it running on a air con unit a 2hp electric motor n i connected to that too test n it had alot of air.... also when had it connected to motor n just seeing how much air it made it was enough to push ur air a fair way make (my hair was test rig - long hair)
mate is making a new intake for it because it has leaks n wasnt running properly so ill find out tomoz wat has happened to it...
