More than likely I will sell this half cut cos on the weekend I pretty much wrote my car off. Anyway, I bought this half cut to put into my RA23. However, this can not happen now!! So the details are,
JZA70 Half cut
1JZGTE and 5 speed
Only done 70,000kms
Has everything less the bonnet, fronts guards and headlights.
Runs beautifully, is still in the half cut, all the dash in in great nick as well. It is in storage at the moment.
Let me know!!

May have heaps of other RA23 parts as well, just need to determine whether I can salvage the car or not. I will keep everyone posted. Anyway, the half cut will be going if someone gives me the money its worth.

Well, it is hard to tell what it is worth really because there are hardly any manual packages around, the ones that are around if you ever find them are heaps pricey. If someone wants to start the ball rolling then we will go from there!

Thats the way Phil, lets see if you have any other competiton out there in the running? Just htought I would also let you all know that SSS are asking $2,000 just for the gearbox, then you are lookin at another 600 to $1000 for a clutch kit. This half cut has it all!

$3500 with no gaurds/bonnet etc. is way over priced. There are a number of places in Sydney that sell them for $2200-$2900 (and yes that is a manual one!), without bonnet and gaurds. $3500 is the type of price that you would be looking at for a COMPLETE half cut.......oh, and these ones that i am talking about have no accident damage, and between 55-92000 km on them

Oh yeah, and i bet the warranty has expired on it too?? If i go and buy one from an importer, i will get a 3 month warranty.
PS, if you bought this from Just Jap at Kirrawee, i know he EXACT 1/2 cut you are on about, or the one from Jap Performance at Moorebank, and i know how much they were selling/sold them for

Hey Traction_Issues, do you know the price for an auto half cut from Just Jap or whatever?

traction issues, maybe you should be a supplier for everyone then if you know of places that get manual half cuts for that price. Just incase you didnt know, the gearboxes on these engines are worth $1400 to $2000 depending on where you get them from. Then you have to find a complete clutch kit as well. Your prices you quoted before might be for auto packages but definitely not for a manual package. By the way, I call the two places you mentioned, as well as all of the other bigger importers about 2-3times a monh and over the last 3 months I have not found any of them to have a manual half cut. Anyway, thanx for your lack of facts before!

I can confirm what traction is saying. 3,500 for a halfcut (manual) with the panels all there is about right with no accident damage. But without panels you should get it under 3.

Well regardless of how much its worth, Celica28 has offered $3500. So why would he sell it for less if thats what someones offered?
If that offer is not genuine, then perhaps someone else can start the ball rolling at another offer.

Well, i dunno how much you paid for your 1/2 cut, obviously more than $3500, and all i can say is they say you coming!!! And like i said, the manual ones ARE selling between $2200-$2900 with no panels!!!
Just Jap had 3 manual JZA70's, all between 67,000-90,000km on them. 2 of these had panels, which were all dead straight/ undamaged...they both sold for $3k. The 3rd one had no panels, and was the best 1/2 cut i have ever seen (in terms off engine bay cleanliness, etc.), and it sold for $2750!! Then Jap Performance had 2 of them, BOTH manual JZA's both with No panels, 1 had 73000km, and the other had 97000km, and they sold for $2400 and $2200 respectively. I can get one from Newcastle for $3700 COMPLETE and UNDAMAGED, with which i would be able to recoupe some costs buy selling panels/parts. As for the price of an auto 1/2 cut, i know of one in Sydney COMPLETE Soarer for $1800!!!
To everyone out there who is looking for a JZ 1/2 cut of any sort, search around, cos they are available, before you go and buy an overpriced item.......

yeah i went to a place in revesby... not too sure about the name of the business but he had an auto 1j soarer there and he told me it had under 100k kms on it and i bought my own stuff to run it and when i turned on the ignition, it had 126000 kms on it... it ran fine and sounded alright ... io got him down to $1450 because of the kms but i'm not sure i want something with that many kms on it and i really would like a manual... anyway... see how we go ay

Thankyou digital dash!! That's one odometer that the importer can't wind back with a drill!
I am very suspicious that this happens way too often with jap-imports as it seems that every second 10+ year old car only has 67Kms on it, and I don't beleive it.. I've seen Jap Imports with over 280Kms on em!
Just out of interest, did you just bring a 12V battery, or how did you power it up? Did you manage to start it?
----
Also, if anyone has any JZA70 guards, I may be interested.

Wow, that simple! It's surprising they don't make it easier for the customer by providing fuel & pump then! Where abouts do you attach the fuel line? I assume it would take a few turns to start it, get out any air etc from the system? In any case, $1450 for a 1J f/c is a good buy..congrats!

you just find where the bundy stube fuel lines have been cut, put the supply on the right pipe and the return on the other one. get the pump going.. check to make sure you are getting a return of fuel to the jerry can(otherwise you may have got them round the wrong way) and the once the fuel has started to return to the can, turn the ignition.. though it could be adivised to crank it without some fuel first just to get some oil around...

Digital dashes are just as easy to get around as analogue..... simply rip it out and put one with lower K's on it in.
Doesn't get much easier and is quite common pracise.
Best way to tell K's on any car is wear and tear on the interior....very rarely is this replaced.
Check pedals, heel pads etc. If they look like they've had more than 60,000 worth of use then they probably have.

just to add my $0.02, without pretending to know everyone's buisness....
you can get a 70 000km half cut, with warrantee, for $2700 if you're willing to shop around/wait a few weeks
that said, a lot of places do sell for $3500
and the guy who was selling it (ra23celica) didn't go out putting an uber-price tag on it... he simply said make an offer.
if someone's willing to pay $3500 for a half cut that's already been checked out, and soeone decided to buy it for a conversion because it was good, so be it!
on that subject, how did you write off your car? I ask because I nearly did the same thing the other night.... so I feel for ya.
didn't see my life flash before my eyes as I was spinning at 110km/hr ,.. but i did see my written off supra flash before my eyes.
At least I've got my preferences right

Thanx for that Draven. I never said anything about a price when I put it on the forum, all I said is that I am after what it is worth. Then I had people saying to shop around instead of buying an overpriced item when I never even put a price on it. Anyway, I have talked to Celica 28 who made the offer and he wanted to give me the $3500 for it however I told him to shop around like everyone said. I wrote my car off, whilst driving to pick the half cut up, I was around the corner from the joint when some bastard decided to cut in front of me into a space that only a midget car could fit into, and when he decided his fat arse magna couldnt fit in he found the brakes in a big way and my celica went from a smiling front end to a very big frown. I have stripped the front down and while there is a lot of bendage, I am straightening it all back up and gonna rebuild the car once again. mean while I am gonna buy another cheap RA23 and do the 1JZGTE conversion into it before I swap it over to my beautiful pride and joy which will be perfectly straight again. So, the half cut is no longer for sale cos I have arranged my finances and all will be well. By the way, I had a good look at the half cut the other night. It is running two hi flowed turbo's with larger injectors, HKS intercooler, HKS airfilter system, tomei computer which is a plugin for the 1JZGTE and suspect a whopper of a clutch cos it is hard as!! So after al, the $3,500 wouldnt of been a bad buy I dont think!! Anyway, tlk to you soon mate and thanx for the sympathy! What sort of supra do you have? That will be my next project I think, MA61 with 1JZGTE or 1UZFE!
