does anyone know if the Mx62 cressida is IRS??

if so would the diff/rear brakes be interchangeable with my LX80 MkII (1990)???

i only have rear drums.. so really i just want the discs, but iwas thinking if the mx62 was a solid rear end.. it may be easier to just put the whole axle in ??????
maybe

thanx

looked under one lately?

does it have a solid diff? yes ... so it's probably not IRS.

<end patronising voice>

as for converting to disk brakes - you'd need to either:
find a similiar width axle, adapt the mounts to suit, plumb up
or
find suitable end-plates from disk-brake axle, adapt to MX62 axle

i think wilbo has done research on this and he probably has a short answer? Wink

however, you could also search the forums for MX62 cresidda and disk brake conversion threads?

well actually no i haven't looked under an Mx62 (as i don't happen to have one)... that's why i asked.

however i have looked under my lx80, and yes it is a solid diff.. that's why i was wondering if the mx62 is also.

MX62 is solid axle yes.
I'm not sure if it has disc brakes though.

But its only 4 stud.
What is the LX80?

4 stud??? hmm.. didn't expect that
LX80's 5 stud

well guess the mx62 rear end will be off no help to me.
i've heard that the corona avante st141 and rt142 are solid diffs with discs that should fit.
however i have also read in a couple of places that they are irs.. (pretty sure these were rt142's)
?????????

They are 4 stud too.

Hilux diff is your best option.

Maybe an old Crown. Not sure when they became IRS.

MS123 Crown is IRS and disc, probably a closer fit for widith than a corona.

MS112 was the last of the solid-axle Crowns. F series diff, discs and 5-stud.

MS112 would be the go if you want to keep a solid rear axle
you will still need to swap control arm brackets as the crown has only 1 upper control arm and the LX81 has 2.

but I would and DID with an LX81 I had years ago fit a MX83 IRS
its a fair bit of work as you have to unpick the panard rod bracket from the body and reinforce the chassis where the diff cradle bolts up but its much better than any live axle Smile
