Fuel pressure VSV on 4AGZE

Hello,
Can somebody tell me the function of the fuel pressure VSV (vacuum switching valve) connected between the 4AGZE fuel pressure regulator and inlet manifold.
Is it bad under some conditions to use a setup where the manifold is directly connected to the fuel pressure regulator, with no VSV?
Cheers, Nick.

I had the VSV removed on my setup due to aftermarket computer and it worked fine just off direct manifold vacuum.

according to http://www.mr2sc.com/websites/tech/tccs.htm its just there for afterstart enrichments. Just raises the fuel pressure to add a little fuel, might cause a rough idle or somethign removing it but itll run fine

Mie runs fine with the vsv missing, and very rich.

i dont run one on my 4agte with gze management (i do have an emanage though).
I also disconnected it on a 4agze conversion i recently did, as after testing i couldnt find a function other than afterstart enrichment for a cold engine.
