drag racing day 9 April Thu, 31 March 2005 13:05 Go to next message
Anyone want to come and race at Willowbank on 9 April? It is a saturday. Costs $34 for two people. Gates open at 4pm, racing from 4:30.

Couple of people going from ALSC and anyone else who wants to come. I was going to organise a meet spot but I will be late as GF doesn't finish until 3pm so I won't. So meet at Willowbank somewhere.

Phil will be coming Smile So if he wants to organise a spot to meet prior to willowbank and I will catch up later.

how does that sound?

No its the one after the Logan Motoway meets the Ipswich Motorway on the left hand side. The next BP that you come to. Its before you get to redbank plaza as well. My memory is a bit vague atm i may go for a cruise out there some time this weekend and if im wrong ill post it up.

hoping to get down the track in one piece. The gearbox is all wrong for the engine, but its running. Should make for an interesting evening, especially considering this will be my first time down the 1/4

IPSWICH AREA
A few showers decreasing to a shower or two by Saturday morning. Moderate SE
winds. Moderate SE winds.
Saturday ... MIN 16 MAX 29
UV INDEX - 8 [Very High]
Sunday ... Mostly fine. MAX 29

Sounds a tiny bit iffy but I think it should be ok Smile

Hey just a question. What exactly does the 35$ entitle us to?
Its 1 Car entry to compete + 2 people?
Can both of them drive (one after the other obviously)?
Do we need to buy licences for the day or anything like that?
What sort of gear do we need?
Helmet (closed/open faced?)
Clothes that cover neck to wrist to ankle?
Are there restrictions on shoes?
Where do we have to register?
Ive never been and i dont want to get there to find out im missing some important piece of gear.
Thanks

$34 is for you and 1 crew member. I'm not sure about swapping drivers but I don't think they would care.

You need a helmet, long sleeve shirt, long pants and enclosed shoes.

When you go in, tell them you are racing and they will send you to scrutineering (which isn't as scary as it sounds) at the back and they put a number on your window and you are off Smile

Unfortunately I was a bit late so I couldn't meet up initially. I saw your car Vs a white supra so I taped it as I thought it may have been you. After all how many celsiors are there at the drags! But then it ran 18 something and I thought, "nah, that can't be right" Smile And I didn't see your car again to check it out.

If they are similar to 1jz turbo pricing $500 for a good set is about avg.

Go to www.supraforums.com.au and check out FS section. May be a good time to upgrade to US spec turbos Smile

well i only just bought it and its been like this since i got it..
it gets to about 4/5 rpm and loses all sense of power before it it gets to 6/7 rpm and hits a rev limiter or something..
i thought it needed a new gear set and perhaps a tune, but somebody suggested it might need a new turbo?

where is a reputable place where i can have it checked out that wont cost too much.
im stone broke atm which is killing me Sad

yeah sounds like the normal 1 single turbo for low end is kicking in.. but not both for top end

How does an auto box decide when to change? (i got no clue)
is it based on speed or revs? If its based on speed, then the replacement of the 2nd turbo would fix the problems ive been having with the gear changes?

Re: drag racing day 9 April Fri, 15 April 2005 01:45 Go to previous messageGo to next message
i dont have a clue either but i would think its based on revs
cause when u floor an auto it doesnt initial go any faster but your reves go righ up,and it changes

the moral of this story is to drive a manual.. unless youve got serious hp.

i had some FCD problems on the night hence the 24 second run..
but finished with a 15.7 on low boost which is still crap but wat can u do ?

The auto has a cable going to the throttle which senses load, it also needs the speed sensor to change gears at all. Without it, it will not get out of 1st. There are others as well but I am not sure where they all go. Speak to sideshow or Kdogg about it.
