i know this has probably been asked before.. but hey what the hell, i have just never seen it before. i have a 74 and i am interested in and engine conversion..(ohh i do love the 2T.. but the pushrods are a little too ancient for my liking.)
The engine in mind is 4A-GE...
i read the conversion guide in the articles section but that was a 16v 4A i was wondering if it is possible to do a 20v conversion
into the 74 celica. i have never seen it done before... has it been done? is it a bitch to do? etc etc... any info will be a big help.. cheers

aside from remote mounting the thermostat and having to complete some wizardry with the distributor (as it will foul on the firewall) should be pretty much well the same as mounting a 16v 4AGE....

also you will need to find a RWD set of headers OR cast exhaust manifold...

Yeah, i thought about the thermostat... but that is not a problem i have an electronic water pump with a controller so there is no need for a thermostat. Very Happy

Ohh and when you say some wizardry with the distributor...???

well it will foul on the firewall - so either cut a hole in the firewall for the 20v or make up some electronic gizmo to fit, say, an ae92 type DLI CAS to it or something...

they don't even come close to bolting up - you need an adaptor plate...

there is benefit though in this - if running cams for example - but - you'll need an aftermarket computer to run em! bill sherwood has done this (www.billzilla.org) but runs a motec now..
