Stock 1JZ power.

Hey guys,
Looks like the planets are finally coming into alignment for my hilux conversion, (all i need now is a car) so im starting to look into detail about whats going to hang off the engine.
I would prefer to run the stocko computer, for rego/engineering/drivability as the ute is going to be an everydayer, and as im going to run the stock auto.
Eventually i would like ~400rwhp when requested (high boost setting) i know to do this i'll need a decent sized turbo (something simular to slylux's setup) and intercooler (going water-air) larger injectors and a piggy-back.
What i want to know is how much power can i make with stock computer and injectors, will they handle the bigger turbo (just running 8-10psi) until the thing gets rego and engineered?
I'd like boost to be coming on around 2,500 and to have heaps by 3,500 i also want to be able to tow a car trailer with it.
anyone have information/advice for me?

Stick with the stock turbos and you'll have heaps of power developing UNDER 2,000rpm . But then, stock turbos won't make your 400rwhp.
Just do basic conversion for starters (maybe improve intake/IC and exhaust if you can), and drive it. Many people doing 1J conversions start much as yourself, planning a stage 3 and four of development before finishing the basic conversion - and are plesantly surprised by the power you can squeeze out of the stock system. When that gets boring - you can upgrade componants as needed.

AFAIK they wont.
Maybe you should still go twin but use say a couple of BB T25's or T28's on foward facing manifold (conventional not 1J style). That way you will have no clearance issues, should have reasonable low down response and get you 400 rwhp. I know it will cost more than a single but if it is your everyday driver it may be worth spending the extra dosh.

Ahhh .... in that case ....
I think Skip is right on the money . I'd look for a set of GTR turbos for a good aftermarket twin system with power and torque in at the bottom of the rpm scale.

basicly i'd prefer to go a single for simplicity, i don't really want boost below 2,500 ever, anyway (i want to be able to tool around off-boost) so a reasonable sized ball bearing turbo is on the shopping list..

Fair 'nuff. There's quite a range of Garrett based turbos (GT3040, 3540, 35R, etc.) that claim to support 600hp.

there's a TD05-25g sort of for sale at the moment on the forums, and importbitz has a TD07-25g complete 1jz kit for $2500 (although it looks like it's done a bit of travel, and I have nfi how well this would go in a hilux)
