I have an AE92 20v ST and it has been fine for ages, but over the last week the car as i drive seems to (at no apparent time) jsut start to chug or even nearly stall and if at the lights or stopped the idle will rise to 1500 then drop to either 1000 or 450 then go up or stall (again randomly) The wires have been untouched, so this is a real challenge for me

Does anyone know what i can do here, how to test for any wiring problems at all, I am starting to go bald trying to figure this one out, everything seems all fine and no issues, asides the above that i mention

Cheers

Check air filter, fuel filter...

I'm guessing it's EFI, so also check the AFM is connected properly, they can clog up with shit and die fairly randomly...

Well - this is interesting.

My AE82 86kw Corolla does the same thing - more when the car's warm, the temperatures reasonably warm (not hot) and usually with the AC on.

Without AC it shudders and stalls when slowing down to lights after the car's been running for a while. It only does it when changing down to stop. If I just slow down in neutral its fine.

My diagnostic fault codes say there's a problem with my o2 sensor.

Other than that I have an unshielded pod filter which may be drawing hot air.

FWIW - I'm going to either shield the pod filter or go back to an airbox. If that doesn't work I'll look at the o2 sensor.

Maybe you should also check your diagnostics and see if it offers any clues?
