st162 suspension Fri, 01 April 2005 05:50 Go to next message
i've got a 85 st162. the suspension is all original and the shocks are fully shot.
if i was to replace the system and lower the car.
1 - what shock spring combination would i need
2 - would i need a camber kit. front/ rear
3 - any chance i could get it done myself, if not prices on getting it done

cheers

KYB shocks - Try the AGX coz they're adjustable
KIng Springs
Front and Rear Sway Bars(Rear first)
Camber kit at front
Nolothane bushes

Check out whiteline=-KYB are thes best bang for buck .The AGX are more expensive but i hear good things

ill probably go with whiteline shocks and super low king springs.
does anyone know if the super lows are legal in victoria, they're meant to bring it down around 60mm but im not sure wether or not that will effect roadworthiness.

thanks for the reply

Camber / castor tops are worth the money, esp. if you decided to go super low. I dont think its legal in Victoria as just 30mm lower brings your front exhaust pipe pretty much dead on the height limit.

superlows will make you bottom out everywhere.eg.front spoiler, exhaust system etc. and if you have bigger than factory rims, you will have to roll your guards.
you might be able to use superlows in the rear without TOO much trouble, but i cant speak from experience.

i'd look for springs that will give you about a 25-40mm drop only.

hey andy, have u got the castor/camber top adj on the front?

Nah, i wish i did tho. If my car was actually 30mm lower it would have been beyond the range of the standard camber adjustment. Also would've liked the ability to fine tune the settings, play with +'ve and -'ve camber etc. I'll do it eventually... right after I work out why my car is still at standard height on king 'low's!

Also definetly adding a rear sway bar after i sort the engine out.
