Engine temp too low?

Hi everyone.
Last night i noticed that my engine temp was really low, about 140-150 degrees F. Usually after more than a few min of driving it will be over that and never drop below about 180 degrees F.
It also wasn't moving around very much. This morning it only got up to 150 and this is all without the thermo fans running.
Can anyone tell me what my problem is?
I reckon it's possibly a shot water pump or temp sensor.

goto toyota but a thermostat and a new gasket about $20 and $5 respectivly, im guessing that the coolant is probaly eldodgo coolant so whilst your at toyota buy yourself a 4L bottle of toyota red coolant.
now from a parts shop, kmart, coles etc buy 4L of distilled water. mix it with the toyota coolant 50/50.
drain the eldodgo coolant from your car as per owners manual. (ie open drain plug in radiatior open drain cock in block (make sure you have the heater to full open whilst you do this too). give it a good blast with the hose to help get the old coolant out, drain again to get rid of hose water.
undo hose clamps on hoses attached to thermostat housing (depending on your engine changes where it is) remvoe thermostat housing (undow botls first) remove old thermo. insert new thermo and gasket.
put it all abck together, installation is reverse of removal. fill with nice new toyota coolant including drain/clean/refill of overflow bottle. bleed out any air in system as per owners manual/workshop manual (varies on car). prob not a bad idea to replace the radiator cap too if its looking a little dodgy. again genuineones are chap from toyota.

Update: The car has been off for about 4 hours now and the temp has only dropped from 130 to 120 degrees F.
I think the gauge might just be stuffed, it is a cheap ebay thing.

Bump,
Can i just rip out the aftermarket temp gauge and rip it apart to see if it fixes it, or would it be the sender... wherever that is.

wel if the guage is reading so low id guess its stuffed. esp if it only cooled 10deg F in 4 hours. ignore what the aftermaket guage says what does the factory guage say ? it should sit just under half give or take.
go for a drive and feel the engie. is the engine bayhot like it should be or does it feel cool ? is the front hose to the radiator under pressure.. dont open it just squeeze the hose does it feel like its pressureised or is it still soft ?
you may find your engine is just fine but the guage is cactus.

I think the stock temp gauge has been disconnected, it has never moved from cold.
The engine bay is definately hot, no hotter than normal id say, but at the same time no colder than normal. The top radiator hose doen't feel pressurised, its soft.
I hope its just the gauge.
