Soarer owners...I need help please

After thinking about 1JZ'ing the Cressida I decided not to and have since sold it for a really attractive price and have decided upon getting a Soarer but not sure what one to get.
I have been looking at V8's and Twin Turbo ones and really like the idea of leather and a TV in the V8 but the power and smoothness of the Twin Turbo. I don't have a huge amount of money to play with and want to keep the car as close to stock as possible (Sice to death of having a modified car).
I was wondering if any of the Soarer owners or friends of Soarer owners can let me know how many K's is a maximum I should go for. I looked at a V8 in GREAT condition with all the options (it was a LTD one with the TV etc) and it had 200,000 k's but was dirt cheap. I am guessing that these cars are well built and the 4 litre engines are apparently bullet proof so they should be able to do 200,000 k's easy. My old VL has done 240,000 and hasn't lost a beat.
Anyway any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks
P.S. I went for a drive in a Twin Turbo one the other day and OH WOW!!

I think a v8 soarer with 200,000 on it would still be a pretty reliable car. However, you'd have to be buying it for low Teens to make it a good buy.
In the event that this engine did die, import engines can be picked up extremely cheap if you already have a computer etc.
If you buy this make sure you get a mechanic to do a complete inspection. Also be sure to drive a few low klm examples so you can compare.
With the TT I would stay away from cars with K's that high. The turbos will most likely have trouble in the near future. But then again if a younger car had been mistreated it could be just as bad a buy.
My TT had 101,000 on it when I picked it up. Thats pretty average but it was in excellent condition everywhere else and is far from High anyway.
It really can be a gamble. Just work out if you bought the cheap V8, are you saving enough to justify the high K's.

It's $7000. I think that is a great buy. It's in good nick except for a few little things but the leather is in good nick and the doors haven't sagged yet.
I think you can get a front cut for $2000 and then it would be a great car for under $10,000

From what I've heard, the 1UZ is pretty bulletproof, so I wouldn't worry too much, but as Remedy mentioned, front cuts are also dead cheap as well if anything goes wrong (and if anything REALLY goes wrong, the Aussie delivered Lexus LS400 has the same motor).
If the one for $7k is in good nick, I'd jump on it quickly. Sounds like a top deal to me, but make sure you get it checked out by someone who knows Soarers before buying.
By the way, the TV won't work in Australia without modification (I think $700 worth at last look), and perhaps the radio (depends if the frequency convertors have been installed already). Apart from that, for $7k, you'll be laughing... a brilliant car with plenty of go, and plenty of cruise appeal !

Yeah thats the plan....even if they had a mini moke engine I would still buy one. they are the coolest cruise car.
I loved the steering too. Do they all have that speed sensitive steering??

Yeah the steering was great.....nice and light under about 60k's and nice and firm over 60
unlike the VL.....SUPER light all the time. God only knows how those guys drive those 9 second VL turbos?!?!?! They would have to have the steering either modified or no power steering. I struggle to keep mine on the road at 100!!

A Soarer V8 for $7K?!? If it's in good nick it's an absolute steal! The 1UZFE is a bulletproof motor, just make sure the usual majors have been looked at and replaced if needed, like timing belt (you'd know that). 200000kms, that'd be average if Soarers were brought out into Australia. I picked mine up with 76000 on the clock, and it's now got nearly 100000km on the clock. They're smooth cars, both the TT and the V8. Just remember that the TT is faster than the V8's, and are probably more reliable (no airbag suspension leakages, no EMV/TV screen blank-outs, no power-steering-leak-destroying-alternator leakages...). Just make sure you looks over it carefully!

$7000 is too cheap and i would be taking a long hard look at every aspect of this car, check the airbag suspension for sag .
If i was to buy this car i would have an extra $7000 spare because its only a matter of time before u start spending$$$
First impressions without seeing the car
1:its a dog
2:its the deal of the century
Good luck....
P.S. The V8 soarers are still demanding $20-30000 in caryards on the gold coast.
