Just recieved new iame magazine and it has the new falcon turbo in full detail. very interesting..
:240kw @ 5250rpm
:450nm @2-4500rpm
:Garret gt35/40 water cooled b/b turbo
: 500x350x50 bar and plate cooler (Garret)
I wonder how this turbo would go on a 1jz,
Hopefully FORD has struck a good deal at garret and we will be able to buy these cheap.....
It says the boost level is variable between 3 and 7psi for normal driving.
Thats LOW boost ,Wonder how long it would last at 25 psi.
Its a t04 style turbo....

Been looking into this one myself... want to know the specifics (A/R etc.) of the turbo, see if it would be much use for something else, although I'd imagine its maximum would probably be similiar or slightly greater than a pair of 1JZ twins stretched to the limit (~225kw at the wheels) - although I may be wrong...

I believe stradlater on the forums here has GT40 or something very similar. Check out the pics he posted of the turbo. It's massive, and a single one would be more than enough for a 1JZ, and should spool quick (ball bearing) to be only slightly laggier than the stock twins (I'd say within 1,000rpm).

0.6 compressor housing
1.04 rear turbine housing
Can anyone shed light on the how much this turbo will flow,
I want to test drive a new turbo xr6,get down the road and pull over, look under the bonnet and pull off the wastegate actuation line for some BIG boost, and tyre frying fun,
See if i can melt the turbo......

Guys, if they are GT35's or 40's then they well surpass a set of 1jz ct12a's! It all depends on how garrett will set it up for you, exhaust housing, intake housing etc but if it's a GT40 then it will be good for around 600hp!! and they kick arse at low revs. I saw a very good article in a mag that used a GT30 bb on a GTS T. The R33 already has a good bottom end turbo stock. The GT30 was on boost at 1800 rpm!!! and it gave an end figure of around 300kw! They are very good unit's. At the end of this article the GT30 was the best bang for your buck, even over all the jap turbos they tried on the skyline!
Now you can get a GT30 for $1900!!!!!!! If there is a group buying at the same time then it may even get cheaper, if anyone is thinking of this in about a months time then let know, I want one!!

I AM STARTING TO GET CREAMY OVER THIS
Ford has called the turbo a GT35/40
GT 30 intake (large size) GT40 exhaust ??????????
When they do up T3's of vl commondores, they mix it with t4 parts and end up with a hybrid T3/4 (non b/b) old less efficient design than the gt series.
Some vl's run 10,z on these turbo's
Only problem i can think of is the ford motor being a breathless piece of crap, being very different to the revvy nature of the 1J...

Breathless i suppose not, it gained 23kw by fitting the twin cam head only...
The old single cam, BREATHLESS
The new twin cam, ????????????
Should go for this test drive and find out...

From all accounts it makes its 180kW count, all of them And thats even considering the extra weight.

Just keep in mind, turbos are becoming the "cheaper" part of a turbo upgrade...In fact they are probably 20% of the total cost of an upgrade...

I haven't seen the new turbo in real life but if it was a GT35/40 then it would be running the .7 comp cover, with the 4inch inlet, the biggest turbo to run a .6 cover I think is the 2835 with the 3inch inlet, but anyway good on ford for bringing back a factory turbo car
