went down to supercheap auto today to have a look 4 a new steering wheel, when i asked if they had a boss kit 4 a sprinter i got blank looks, the guy rang autotechnia (the place that makes the bosses) and they said that they couldent tell me definatly which one i needed cause halfway through the production of sprinters they changed the steering coulm type and if i had a certain type i needed some special spacer and a special boss. how do i know which type to get?

I got a steering wheel from super cheap for my AE71 corolla and when i asked for a boss kit i got blank looks aswell! So i took a gamble and got one from a corolla-83-86 model its part no. is #401, it is ment for a FWD rolla but it works in my car. it puts the wheel about 20mm closer to me( which suits me fine,i was goin to make a spacer) i dont know if it will work on your sprinter tho.

The saas boss kit is a little shorter, my mate has one in his AE82 and it was to short so he had to make a spacer.

saas' got one for the sprinter, I've bought one more than a year ago, about 15cm long, I couldn't find the part number anymore, but they seems to have a different looking boss kit for the sprinter now, so I don't know how long the boss kit is, here's the link for you!

awesome gt20v. I wish I knew this part number BK138XXL six months back. And to actually see a 'toyota sprinter' link on a page.
I went through the Auto-One blank look deal until the guy I was talking to called one of his mates who happenned to know that the kit of some Diahatsu (Autotechnica) fitted just fine. Still had to make a 30mm spacer up so my fingers would not turn on the indicator when I turned a corner though.

Just to add my 2 cents then ...
Yes ... you're right in that people at Supercheap Auto will give you a blank look as the Sprinter AE86 is not on the Autotechnica boss catalogue list.
I still ordered an Autotechnica boss for an AE82 which fits in the Sprinter HOWEVER the only thing I found out later is that it is too short.
As the original Sprinter steering wheel is recessed, you'll find that a normal aftermarket steering wheel is too close to the steering stalk. The wheel will fit but just with enough clearance over the stalk.
I've had to adjust to this fact but after a while it grows on you. Then again, it can be a bit annoying at times. Still, you'll always see me indicating even before I turn ...

from what I remember, the SAAS boss wasn't too short, as it came with a spacer already.. but I don't know about these new models as the pictures on the website looked different to the one I had.. But I assume SAAS should already have thought about this problem since they specified that the boss is for an AE86

Rex bougt a boss with a Rocca's gift voucher (gay present, I know). But If I remember correctly they didnt have one designed for the Sprinter.
The one i ended up buying was one for a corolla or T-18 (cant remember, long time ago).
The wheel sat far too close to the indicator stalk so me 'n Pa whacked up the simple spacer below. Not only did it fix the problem. It also allowed me to set the wheel exactly where i wanted it.
And to the Rice Boys: It looks pretty racy/sik too...
