Installing CD-Player in GZ20 soarer Sat, 09 April 2005 13:19 Go to next message
Hey everyone. Very Happy

One more question which I don't think was quite "technical" enough to belong in the tech section, but should be OK here.

I want to put my cd player into my GZ20 soarer, but I don't know where to start pulling pieces of the center console / dash off to be able to remove the cassette player that's in there.

OK , I could just pull it ALL off but I'm sure there's a few people here that have done it, so it's just easier for me to ask and be told "yep, unscrew THIS and pull THAT out"

I'm not exactly sure what I'll have to take out to get access to the DIN's to add in my CD player.

Help would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to have to remove the entire dash because it looks like it might be a pain. Wink

Cheers
James

in short for those that dont wanna read it all - what's the easiest way for me to install my CD player into my soarer?
and don't say take it to strathfield car radio. Rolling Eyes

damn you all!

and all things considered, it wasnt too bad except for that one screw that decided the metal would just scred around the screwdriver, rendering my screw-driving efforts useless and making me wanna scream

'cause the same thing happened in my cressida! ha

but a dremel solves all problems... i just re-made the philips head marking in the screw ... but a lot deeper. heh heh heh Smile

nah its not, its a wiring fucking nightmare.

the guy had put in a pioneer cassette player, but guess what he's done...

he's left the original harness on the end of the wires

SPLICED THE WIRES FAR BACK ON THE WIRES

attached the cassette player to the now bared wires (which are far behind the harness)

and then he wrapped half a roll of fucking electrical tape around it

can you say "not happy jan"

see this is why i was thinking if i was gonna put a computer in my car, FUCK all this wiring bullshit with car speakers and stuff

I was just gonna buy a 5.1 cheap home theatre speaker system for like $250 - $300 or some logitech 5.1 speakers and put them in my car.

Sure, it aint gonna have as much bass as some car with a "hektik subwoofa" but its gonna sound pretty fuckin good for the price

Plus I'd be the only person I know that has 5.1 channel audio in my car

well i'm gonna wire mine up properly and effectively and so it's easy to remove too, just as some common courtesy to the next person who owns this car after me

Unless I eventually 1JZ my car, in which case there's no way in hell i'll be selling it, cause the car will owe me BIG TIME then Razz
