Good experience?!?!? I know of NO1 that has bad experiences with any form of motec equipment!!

But why an M800???

$3200 for the ECU
$500+ for the loom (depending on what type you buy)
~$900 for wide band LAMBDA software
$400 for 4 wire (LAMBDA O2 sensor)
+ what ever other sensors you will need

I got an M48.........hasnt gone onto the car yet, but its definately all i will need. Would only use an M800 on a race car....

If you get M48 Pro and an ignition expander, then you're over the base price of an M800. Makes sense to me.

M800 is the Go!! GT got it in one..

ECU M48-Clubman
$ 2,585.00

ECU M48-Professional
$ 3,014.00

Motec Ignition Expander (conn kit incl.)
$ 346.50

M48 Loom & Sensors (Turbo)
$ 450.00

See a trend here, all the extras mean $$$$. If you pay cash you will pick up a M800 for about $3500(turbo loom and sensors).

M800 is an excellent computer,
however for $3500 I can supply you with an Autronic SM2 and Autronic CDI, I am assuming that you are putting this on a 2J?

cheers

Sorry to steal a bit of this thread away, but how much does an Autronic SMC with loom cost and how much does it differ in spec from the SM2 and the Motec M800?

Hi,

King_J: Yes, this is going into a 2J. Thanks for the offer mate. But I think I'll stick with the M800. The reason is even more than what M800 is offering right now, the future software potential. The M800 has a significant amount of auxillary I/O which could in future be used for additional functionality (say valve timing control) through enhanced software revisions. I don't know the Autronic SM2 well enough to know what kind of Auxillary I/O capabilities it has, but I know that it uses a 16-bit Intel Microcontroller running a 16MHz clock, which is pale in comparison to the Motorola 32-bit 33MHz microcontroller that is in the M800 (which is apparently utilizing only 50% of its peak potential). Besides, I know the Motorola 32-bit microcontrollers well enough to know that the controller has a built in TPU (Time Processing Unit) which offloads a lot of demanding functionality (say for example ignition timing and synchronization with the input sensors) to the TPU so that the microcontroller processing power is utilized even more efficiently.

Cheers
