Fuel pump installation

Well, I'm coming down to the business end of my conversion now, having actually got all the parts together finally! Just a question regarding the fuel pump I should use.
Basically at the moment I have: an 18R fuel system, including mechanical pump, an 18RG(EU?) fuel pump with one hole blocked off and an electric fuel pump from repco (brand new, this woul dprobably be best?).
My 18RGEU has a plate bolted onto the side of it where the mechanical pump goes, I was thinking it might be easier if I use the external electric pump instead of swapping a mechanical one onto the block. The new engine will have 40mm Mikuni-Solex carbs on it.
Will this work? Where should I mount it? Will the stock fuel lines suffice? Anything I need to watch out for?

A low pressure fuel pump is best, using the stock fuel lines is fine. Mount it below the bottom level of the fuel tank
to work best. My is on the RHS chassis rail behind the rear tyre on my RA23. Make sure it is well earth and run a single dedicated power wire to it from a fuse box.

Currently the block has the plate over the fuel pump hole, should I try putting the standard one in or just use the electric one?
Also will the stock lines be fine? And do I need a return at all?

Anyone? Any other tips or should it be reasonably smooth sailing?

If the fuel pump hole has already been blocked, just use the electrical pump. They are easier to replace anyway should something go wrong with it.
