4A-C going balistic at 90-105km/h

Hey guys, my 4A-C in my AE82 is being really dodge lately. We've had it checked and checked over and over again by mechs and no one knows whats going on.
Here's what goes on from my perspective.
You're driving along , slowly making your way to 100km/h as it does. Then out of nowhere, the engine will start to slow down, without you doing anything! It starts to pull back furiously on you as if it hates going faster than 80-105 km/h. This happens randomly but its really annoying. Sometimes it gets to the point of just seizing to go any further and just stalls at that speed... revs just drop to 0 and thats it. game over. but i can just chuck it into neutral and start it again no problems, put it into drive and away we go, while rolling to a halt. well. can someone help? we've had the fuel system looked at and its 100% fine we've had services done on it we've had almost everything done!
mind you, ita an automatic just in case that gives ya any idea of whats going on.

i have seen this exact problem before,
solution: replace your fuel filter, should cost less than ten bucks.
just read your post, this might have been checked already.

Actually, how does it drive?
Does it drive fine from 0-100, regardless of throttle?
ie, you can baby it up to 100, and then it will stuff up
As well as going full throttle from 0-100, and then it will stuff up?
If so, I'd be looking at the drivetrain, maybe the auto is locking up or not pumping.
Try hold it in 2nd until redline, see if its any different.

| I was thinking the exact same...
When normally driving, you should pass through the exact same rev ranges and throttle positions and hence, if it's a fuel problem, it will happen at all gears...
I'm thinking your top gear is seizing up at the high speeds...

Might be a good idea to check your points in the distributor too. Mine had a similar problem but not quite as savage and thats how i fixed it.

Baby it up to 100, its fine until around that speed then it will randomly happen.
Full Throttle to 100, 1st to redline change is fine, 2nd to redline change you'll get to around 5,000rpm or so and then theres no more push, it will start doing it. which is about 95km/h.

I'd be looking at the auto.
Either try and find a cheap replacement, or at least give it a fluid flush (check the levels first)

Was the problem around before that? or did it only happen after that?
If so, how long after?

I noticed the problem occur one evening when I was driving home... I didnt know what it was, the problem was going for a few weeks before we actually noticed there was almost zero fluid in the transmission and the leaks, then it was 2 weeks after we refilled the transmission with tranny fluid and actually got it checked by an automatic transmission specialist who said there was a pipe leak.

have a look at the exhaust system if you have a loose or rusted baffle in the muffler it will severly restict exh flow resulting in loss of power and or stalling

ok it sounds like you have shit in your fuel tank! What it sounds like is that something is getting caught at the pickup in the fuel tank. Remove your fuel line after the fuel filter and get the trusty air compressor out and blow the line back through to the fuel tank this will clear the fuel line and it should stop your problem.
