AE86 Rollcage specifications

My cousin has just bought an AE86 and is currently doing a blacktop turbo conversion... anyway to the point.
He asked me this morning if I knew a source to get every single tiny measurement on an AE86 roll-cage and even a blueprint or something of the sort if possible. He has a place next door to the workshop he is working on his car on that manufactures steel frames etc and has done rollcages before, just needs the measurements....
Thanks peeps,
Kev.

I dont beleive its possible to make a cage for an ae-86 with just measurements. Sounds like a dreamer. Good luck to him I say, reality is a bitch

It sounds reasonable enough...
the inside of every ae86 will share the same dimensions, I think he's looking for mock plans tho,
Roll cages are not something that can be knocked out by everyday joe.. From my own experiences you'll need to consult an engineer before any cutting / bending / welding starts...
Do you want a half cage or full cage, do you know what points of the car the cage must be mounted to, to actually perform any use..materials, welds, bends, permanent or removable..
Either way, if its a road car, you'll need tickets for legal reasons...

To my knowledge, half cages will shortly not be able to get a CAMS logbook. (Requirement if you're going to do any serious racing.)Get a CAMS manual and build it to that. You can also get further info if required out of CAMS. Once again, if it's going for a logbook, the manufacturer has to fill out a form stating all material specs and certify that it complies to specs. CDS is a bitch to bend, and unless this guy has some serious equipment, and knows what he's doing, take it to a cage builder and get it done by someone who does them everyday. I did, because I know what my life is worth.
P.S: Half-cage for Half-wits!
