icon5.gif  Is my car trying to communicate? Fri, 15 November 2002 06:21 Go to next message
My daily drivin' MX 73 has had a flashing overdrive light since I've had it. Finally got the auto electrician to have a look and he wreckons it has something to do with an error report or warning but doesn't know how to retrieve/interperate/remove the damn thing.

Does anyone out there have any info or help because otherwise I'm just going to disconnect the light.

-- Only happens with ECT Power engaged, light does not flash when O/D not engaged

While I've got your attention, does anyone out there have short 3" adapter for a 5M-GE AFM to suit the Cressida? would prefer to pick up an unneeded one from here than have one fabricated.

Thanks in advance for any help

Andrew

is there any chance that your overdrive switch is faulty and is making short contacts that are completing the dash light circut??

i had a caldina wagon come into work that was
doing that exact same thing.
in the end i found a small bridge connector
had been left connected in the diagnostics box.
it must have been left in in japan cause it just
looked like a factory fitting untill i pulled
it out.sorry cant remember what terminals it
was bridging.

yep you have diagnostics telling you to check a code...Im not positive which connectors you need to bridge on the 73 but generally for most toyotas its T1 and TE1 from memory, write down the flash sequence and look up the code Smile

Very Happy Thanks guys, I don't suppose ne1 has the list of what the sequence represents do they? There's nothing wrong with the tranny as it's had 2 major services while this light has been flashing.

Thanks again,
Andrew

My diagnosis box only has T1 and TEM terminals, would these be the ones to connect? If so, where will these 'numbers' be displayed.

Embarassed Please excuse my grose lack of knowledge regarding these matters as until recently my only concerne with cars was would the PA fit Nod
