4agze problem

This afternoon i started my car and the idle was very erratic ... then I drove it down the road and it seems to be misfiring badly. Its hard to explain so i know its going to be difficult to answer. All im after is what kind of things it could come down to.
The engine has about 105000kms on it and i service every 5000km. Last service which was about 2 months ago i changed plugs ... I used the platinum plugs. I haven't changed the leads but I'm not sure if its just the leads or its a coil thats not working properly. The fuel pump is working fine so its not a fuel problem.
Any suggestions
Cheers
Andrew

If you kept your old plugs i would replace them as a comparison.....if it does it under load it could be a number of things /Leads/coil/plugs/ etc, it is a process of elimination

weired thing happened to me..the exact same thing..it was doing it for a few days and it annoyed the shit out of me..also being bad for the motor..then i realised that i blew a rad hose the day befor, and it wasn't running right since..reason..water in the spark plug wells..dosn't have to be much..or in everysingle one..a bit of compressed air, and unpluging all the the leads after the motor has come up to operating temp (hot) so the water can evoporate away..also wouldn't hurt to silicone spray your leads..

The engine misfires pretty much all the time whether it is cold or hot. Its has a misfire when just left idling and when I accelerate.
The engine is standard with the standard computer. All i have done is front mounted the intercooler and that about it.
Im totally lost with this one.

have you tried checking to see if the ecu is spitting out an error code. May be a faulty sensor of some sort.

you get the diagnostic plug and use a paper clip to short two of the terminals i forget which 2 its on the club4age website from memory you can also search 4age error codes in google and you should find what you need.
Once you have jumped the terminals you turn the ignition to accessories and count the amount of times the check engine light flashes.

I think your engine needs a second throttle body to lengthen the intake, the erratic idle seems to be a problem with most 4agze's.
As for your misfiring, your probably using crap low octane fuel, Try a bottle of octane booster with some 98 octane and c how it goes.
HOPE I HELPED

I have been filling up at the same petrol station for five years and always have used premium. I used it in my wrx which was modded to shithouse and never had any sort of problem. I ruled this out as I filled up a new tank with premium and everything is still the same.
I had a mechanic mate come over today to have a look and well he was as stumped as I was. After the engine was running for about 30mins the problem seemed to disappear and later that afternoon I started it and the same thing happened again.
How do I run a diagnostic if I'm using the sprinter dash? Is there any way of finding the code another way?
Cheers
Andrew

normally the diag plug is on the n/s/f of passenger strut tower the two terminals you need to bridge are TE and E1 then turn the ignition on and the engine light should flash eraticly if it flashes constantly with no changes then it is all ok. is it running the map sensor or the airflow meter ???????? if they go out of sink they will put all the other sensors out my first thaught would be sumthing has gone out of sink and fould up the o2 sensor that will giv you that simtem.... remove it see if it has heaps of black shit (carbon) all over it ???????? clean it then disconnect the battery to reset the basic settings then see how you go....... very interested to see what the cause is
