wtf? are you trying to tell me ive stolen someone else's code when i havent even done the majority of the actual programming yet and you dont know the specifics of the program itself?
for the record, i will actually be writing all the code myself in realbasic
i just wanted to know what other students are doing for their project

Back in yr 11 (2000) I was doing IPT at school and we had to code battleships using Turbo Pascal. Most people ended up with crappy progs, but there was a few of us who got it done properly. Mine ended up having quite good AI, used a sound library for wavs and midi playback, etc... I think it had over 4000 lines of code. I look back at it now and I cringe at it all... I don't know how I pulled it off, its very messy code, but hey it worked fine!

WOW! I did IPT in year 11 and 12 (2002-2003) and it was the worst subject i could have ever picked. We did nothing at all to do with programming, but learnt stupid shit like how to use macros, what LCD blah blah blah
They must have changed it for the worse...

I did SDD in 2002, my major project was a school website. Get info from head teachers, learn how to use frames, create site in 2 weeks (-ish), passing grade, thanks very much
One of my mates made a utility in Linux for encrypted full-duplex data transfers for the same project. Needless to say, he got a better mark than my website
IPT was the coolest, such a bludge

IPT was great! We'd have network games of Total Annihilation when we used to have a double period. Such a bludgy subject!

First off IPT is like a theory (BS) course.
SDD is more programming oriented.
I did a program that was like an organiser. You input dates and memo's and it's got an address book, calculator etc.
A guy in my class programmed an NRL football manager game and it was top class. Some other programmer guy who owned a company gave him his business card and told him to give him a call after he finished the HSC.
Everyone in my class completed the criteria. Everyone who did it was pretty good to uber l33t with computers in general so programming wasn't TOO difficult.
Also the criteria is set out so that people who have never programmed or struggle to use computers have a hope of meeting the criteria.
Our major projects were marked not according to the criteria (as we all would've got 100%) but more strictly based on my teachers' stricter (but still fairly easy criteria) and each project was compared to the other projects of the class.
So basically if people in your class aren't all that good then don't spend heaps of time on your project unnecessarily.
Find out what people are doing and try to make something on par or just a LITTLE better.
Most people lose marks on the written section too.
Good luck!
