I ordered a pair of RA60 tie rod ends as suggested after fitting sigma control arms to my KE70 corolla. But the tie rod ends currently on the rack are longer than the new Celica arms I bought!! What's the story here?

Thats odd as I have a ke70 rack and the ra60 inner rack ends were about 30mm or more longer than the ke70 ones.
You talking about inner ends, not outer tie rods are you?

Are RA40 and RA60 Tie rod ends the same? I use RA40 and they are well long and good. Shouldn't cost FA from a wrecking yard.

RA60 uses rack n pinion. (ra40 uses steering box).
the rack end of this is longer than ae86/ke70 ones.
perfect for when you put longer control arms on.
