There's two types: there's the expensive one with 3 starter motors connected to a small roots-type supercharger, and the cheap one with computer cooling fans in a plastic housing.
I'll let you decide which one is moderately useful (for 2litre or smaller engines) and which one is a complete waste of money.

as shiny blue steel and sillycar have already stated...
they are utter poo, do not waste your time with them, there is no way they are going to make more power, the ones that actually make around 2PSI of boost are close to $2000, the cheap ones actually restrict airflow to your throttle body

THREE STARTER MOTORS?! how much of a ridiculous load is that going to put on the alternator!? +5hp of boost and -20hp of pulley load!

those starter motor ones actually run off 4 car batteries, so its more like
5PSI of boost for 15 seconds
50 kilos added weight

it isn't a bad selling ploy though. do you think if i make some with the LED computer fans i would sell more? stylish and powerful!!! you could have triple glowing computer fans out the bonnet instead of a snorkel
