depends what type of sound deadening. the foam underlay of the carpets is technically sound deadening. The stuff you're talking about is probably the tar-paper.

I seem to remember somebody saying to freeze it and you can chip it off easily?
So maybe get a couple of bags of ice or something?
Either way, a hammer and a cold chisel/screwdriver.

yep, it needs to either be really hot or really cold.
when hot, a paint scraper will get it off (40+ degree summer days are great for this)
when cold, a chisel + hammer will chip it off as peewee said.

Its louder than a bat out of hell, and the slightest rock on the road will make you think the car is about to fall apart as it bounces between the road and the chassis.
Its great.

Damn restrictive exhaust.

is it possible to rip the old shit up and spray some new stuff on?
i was thinking a thin layer of that stuff they use to line the back of utes..
apparantly this stuff is airated, which means, its lighter, has better sound deadening properties (meaning you can use less...) and it would be softer under the feet, not that it really matters...
