another diff question Mon, 18 April 2005 02:57 Go to next message
i know there are heaps of threads about the f series diff but i can't seem to find the answer i want. Since i am looking to lock up my diff. would i be able to incorperate the locking system from a 4wd hilux into my corona. This way i can unlock it when i'm on the road and lock it on the track.
Is there any way of doing this or am i jus way off.
hilux's have an f series right?

cheers Smile

most hilux's i know of have G series diffs (if not all of them?)

i heard some 4runners have a F series diff, maybe the front diff?

i dunno quite about the locking question.. on my old mans landcruiser you have to turn a switch on the hubs.

Independant front Hilux,4runner and Surf's have F series front diffs. ARB make an air operated diff-lock for them. The centre hemi costs just over $1K from memory.

I think it costs quite a bit more as it uses a small compresor to operate the locking mechanism.Check out www.4wd systems.com for info on their lockrite, may be of some interest to you as well.
