well the time has come when my finances are looking good - and the old ta22 gets some attention it deserves
next year ill be undertaking a stripdown and respray , now im in 2 minds whether to body colour code the bumpers - OR leave them chrome
What do you all think?
Car will be either hot chilli red or metallic blue when finished, and will have mirror polished mk 2 supra wheels on it

I like colour coding (as you might tell from my car), but it doesn't suit all colours. Plus I don't think I've seen many TA22s with coloured bumpers, so I don't know how it'd look.
Chrome would be the safe way to go, any colour it will look ok, but painting can look better, 'specially if you have a proper colour scheme happening.

mine will end up similar to yours joel - cept mine - instead of being bright orange like yours - would be the bright red you see in VX commodore SS's
I think it would look ok - but inm pondering how to prepare the bumpers
Ie re-chroming costs vs painting costs ..
Any ideas ??

I say chrome
although painting would obviously be cheaper and less of a headache in future

No, don't paint them. Leave them chrome! Mine were painted when I got my car and it's just way too much. The chrome really breaks the colour up and when it's all clean and shines in the light it looks so good. On my front bumper the paint has started to flake off and it's left cracks in the chrome.
At least paint your car and put the chrome bumpers on and see what you think. Then you can decide a bit easier to stick with the chrome or go with colour.
If the toyota celica god wanted them to be colour coded they would have been.

CHROME
its the only way to go, it keeps with the old school style and not adding to the RICE club.

If you paint over the chrome it wont work, you have to strip the chrome, primer the metal and paint it like a panel.

bit harsh mate, it's not exactly rice material, just different strokes for different fokes.
Personally i think painting them makes the car a bit more modern looking, I did mine and think it looks better now than before.

Coloured bumpers are OK on early model celicas, My old RA28 was, except it was light blue.
I would go for chrome, especially on darker colours.

Just my 10c
Go for the Chrome matE! i used to have the body coloured on my old '28. but it was too much, as stated before, and i spent for ever looking for a straight chrome rear one for that, to no avail!
my new '23 is all new chrome and you just cant beat the chrome and colour contrast. It really breaks it up nicely i think.
