after a bit of seaching and reading bill sherwoods site i think im correct in saying that... (please correct me if im wrong)

smallport block = same as 4agze block

smallport crank = same as 4agze (42mm?)

smallport rods - different to 4agze

smallport pistons - different to 4agze

i realy would just like conformation of what i have reasarched by someone in the know.

IMO it's the pistons that are the only difference. personaly think it's an old wives tale about the rods in the 4agze beeing 'beefer'. i could find no difference in the rods in my 7 rib 4age to my 4agze ones. (< they are the bigport version 42mm mains).

but then someone will probably produce toyota part numbers saying they are different.. Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Well according to the epc, both the part numbers are identical for the conrods in an AW-11 4agze and an AE-92 4age:

13201-19095

I have heard different things as well though regarding the strength of the bottom ends of the 2 engines. I've heard from a reliable source that the gze rods are slightly meatier.

Regardless... I'm going to be putting together a smallport bottom end with gze pistons and a bigport head for forced induction. Won't be ready for a few months but i'll let you know if there are any problems.

Eddie.
