I think you'll find the problem is you are using a guage that isn't designed to work with the stock ra28 sender.
I put a new fuel gauge in the celica, and had to install a new sender designed for this guage.
Cheers

where should i be looking for alternate senders?
cause the pricol site doesnt say jack and the instructions with the guage was just a wiring diagram?

The shop I purchased my gauges from also sold the senders.. Most guages require a new sender.. Oil for example.
I'd talk to a reseller of pricol guages? See what they have in the catalog.

aight for those who ever need to know.
this info cost $25 and killed a RA28 Fuel sender.
the pricol guage works off of resistance.
it puts out 6v roughly to the sender and measures the resistance, which is the displayed.
RA28 sender (and toyota for that fact) seems to read ZERO
ohms at full tank and 100-105ohms at empty tank.
this is opposite to what the guage wants.
so i butchered the sender open....flipped the resistor / coil
and put back together. Now 0ohms is empty and 100-105ohms
is full.
only 100-105ohms only reads just under 1/2 a tank. And mind you this is manually adjusting level with the sender outside the tank.
so the sender doesnt generate enuf resistance to read a TRUE full tank.
so im doing tests on senders at the wreckers tomorow after 3pm.
qwik test on Sunday showed vn/vr commodore sender reads 30/40ohms to 4/500ohms.
At least at this point i know empty is empty and just under half is near full. Better than the E and F playing ping pong with the needle on the guage
